Discussion about this page. Use the "leave message" to discuss.

Is "sensei" his official name?

Is there a "sensei" in his name, or does that title come from the guesses of the players?

The names of just about All of the characters/sprites/ect. were made up by fans, usually based on what they look like. Masada is probably called "Sensei" because people usually think that he was Madotsuki's piano teacher. Raine 04:51, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Didn't the character names come from the Japanese filenames? 75.61.174.135 05:52, 12 May 2009 (UTC) Me

That's what I heard about the random things like Uboa and Takofuusen but from what I heard, fans made up the other names. I might be wrong though so...yeah.--Raine 18:54, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

I know for a fact that Uboa is from the game code, but I think I heard Takofuusen actually is Japanese for "octopus balloon", and is really just another name the (Japanese) fans made. I also heard Seccom Masada is actually Japanese for "piano guy".

Really, we just need somebody here who can read Japanese. Not even speak it, just read the characters. Tatsumaki 06:06, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Seccom Masada is definitely not Japanese for "piano guy". I'm not sure at all where it comes from, as Seccom is not a Japanese word and Masada is a Japanese surname (and not a very unique one at that). I looked through the filenames, and I found that Monoko and Monoe are definitely there, rather plainly. It's hard to tell most of them, though, since I can't really tell what most of the files are aside from guessing based on their names. Kyukyu-kun's name also comes from a file, technically, as the sound effect files for his rubbing are called the Japanese onomatopoeia for it. Kyu1 and Kyu2 or something similar. However, I couldn't find any other file names that seemed to be similar to the fan names of the characters. I'm assuming that means "Seccom Masada-sensei" is entirely made up by fans, although where it came from is another question entirely. --68.96.199.129 06:53, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

I translated http://dic.nicovideo.jp/a/センチメンタル小室マイケル坂本ダダ先生 which explains the origin of Seccom Masada-sensei's name. Everything below is translated from that page, except my comments in []

Sentimental Komuro Michael Sakamoto Dada-sensei is a character who appears in Yume Nikki. His name is abbreviated to Seccom Masada-sensei.

An alien who appears in a map (the space ship) which was added in Yume Nikki ver0.10. He's inside a space ship-like vehicle, playing a synthesizer. He has black hair, a black high-necked shirt, white skin, grey eyes, a monochrome appearance, and seems to be male. If you speak to him, he makes a noise like when NES Mario is killed. When the spaceship is crashing he panics, if you show him the knife he backs away; his human-like reactions are cute.

On niconico, fitting with the "sensei" in his name, he is often depicted as Madotsuki's teacher or someone who supports Madotsuki.

The origin of his name is as seen below. At first, it seems he was considered a derivative of Uboa.

Hey... that guy in the space ship...
Doesn't he kind of look like Uboa being all "Towards you, towards you, I'm sentimental!!!"?
...Maybe it's just my imagination

The black-and-white alien standing in front of the piano
But I can also see him as Sentimental Uboa

If I had to pick, I'd say he looks like Michael Jackson

The musician in the space ship, if Madotsuki wields the knife, doesn't he back away?
Maybe it's Michael after all.
At first I thought he seemed kind of Komuro-ish. [Probably Komuro Tetsuya, a keyboardist]

In the space ship, the instant I saw the middle room for some reason I was reminded of Sakamoto Ryuuichi

In the second half of the Dreamcast game L.O.L [Lack of Love], which Sakamoto Ryuuichi was in charge of the music for, there's a similar sort of facility.

Come to think of it, the new map is kind of Love-de-Lic-ish, isn't it.

But, that alien riding the space ship? Rather than Michael, I can only see him as Dada [from Ultraman]...

How about we just combine everyone's views about the person in the space ship and go with Sentimental Komuro Michael Sakamoto Dada-sensei?

Abbreviated, Seccom Masada-sensei
