The Fossil Mines is an area accessible by interacting with a construction hat found in the Rainbow Pottery Zone.

Map of the area

Features

This area is a winding, underground mine that is initially dark. The player is only given a circle of light for visibility, which expands with the Lantern effect equipped. Most of the area is populated by pig-like creatures with hollowed eyes, who are seen excavating fossils at some of the rooms' walls, or taking a break at the tables. In many of these rooms, you'll find many fossils embedded in the walls, minecarts with a few containing unearthed fossils, stalactites, tall mushrooms, crates, and discarded mining tools. You can enter different rooms by taking the stairs.

Deep into the mines, you may find a stone statue of a snake in the center of a room with dirt floors and occupied minecarts. Interacting with it brings you to the Serpentine Pyramid.
