These are files which have a newer or preferred version as a separate file upload. The old files listed here redirect to the newer ones that are meant to be used. Either the redirect itself or the file data must stay intact to preserve page revisions. Alternatively, the redirect can be removed and the file then be used separately to the "preferred" file. Repurposing the redirecting file would still break page revisions.
