These are files which have a newer or preferred version as a separate file upload. The old files listed here have a redirect to the newer ones that are meant to be used. These redirects do not work as the file pages have separate file data. Either the redirect itself or the file data must stay intact to preserve page revisions. Repurposing the redirecting file would still break page revisions.

To administrators: it may be better to delete the files here, allowing their names to act as redirects instead of holding separate data.
