Description
This template allows users to "claim" pages for up to 72 hours (3 days). The purpose is to warn other editors that there is an ongoing edit session.
Syntax
{{subst:claim|Username}}
{{subst:claim|Username|Hours}}
This template must be substituted.
Usage
The claim warning is used to prevent edit conflicts. It places a box explaining that a user (should be the one placing the warning) is going to edit the page. The template hides itself after this time.
It is best to use this template at the very start of a page. Since it acts as a warning for a future edit, the user must submit an initial edit where they only place the claim template.
The claim template is supposed to be used directly before the user starts typing out the actual edit. The maximum time is 72 hours, but keep the time at a minimum.
Parameters
Put a box warning users that you are editing the page.
