Revision as of 20:03, 4 November 2011
Here is a list of the current effects present in Yume 2kki, as well as their locations and instructions on how to get them.
Please remember that this game is still a work in progress, and because of that the instructions here may become outdated at any time in the future.
Bike (Motorcycle)
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: none)
From The Nexus, enter Garden World. The effect is located directly southwest from the entrance.
This effect doubles Urotsuki's speed, allowing for much quicker travel. Also, if one holds down the interact key long enough, Urotsuki will pop a wheelie in place. The name "Motorcycle" comes from Western fans of the game, as the game refers to the effect as "Bike".
BoyFile:Effect boy.png
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: Motorcycle, Invisible)
From The Nexus, enter Geometry World. Travel directly north from the entrance, then turn to the west once you pass a C-shaped line on the ground to your left. Continue traveling west until you see a door in a opaque teal block (if you loop and don't see it, move two or three steps north, then continue to the west), and enter the doorway. Head east down the teal path and enter the door on the teal object at the end of the path. Once you emerge in a yellow-and-black room with a maze, go to the southern end of the boxed-off area that you're in and enter the maze (make sure to avoid the patrolling ghost). Transverse the maze until you encounter a yellow-framed doorway, then enter the door and travel north along the path until you pass through a second doorway. Move through the second section of the maze until you encounter yet another doorway (there should be a number of white ghosts in an enclosed area within sight of this door). Go into this door, then interact with the blue object at the far end of the room until it makes a different sound. Exit the room, then interact with the rainbow-flashing outline of a human to obtain the effect.
Chainsaw
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: Motorcycle)
From The Nexus, enter Graveyard World. Travel roughly east-northeast until you find a vomiting heart, then pass through its open mouth and enter the door on the western wall in the room in which you appear. Travel west through the Hospital's reception room and go through the opening on the western wall. Pass through 3 segments of the hallway (you'll go by 9 doors), then enter the first door in the 4th hallway segment and go through the opening on the western wall in the small room through the door. Continue west through the oddly-floored hallway and pass through the entryway into the Hospital Outskirts. Go directly south from the entrance, then head due west once you reach the southern wall of the Outskirts. Step on the red circle, then enter the mouth of the vomiting diamond located to the west of the entry point (that is, the red circle that brings you back to the Outskirts) 3 times, looping around from the back to the front to re-enter it. Interact with the chainsaw stuck in the ground in the completely black area to obtain the effect.
Lantern
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: none)
From The Nexus, enter Forest World. Travel northwest from the entry point until you see a large hole partially blocked off by traffic cones. Enter the hole, travel south at the first intersection near the cave's entrance, and continue south until you reach the southernmost wall. Head east (and south/north as necessary) and you should find the effect at a dead-end.
Fairy
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: Motorcycle, Invisible)
From The Nexus, enter Onyx Tile World. Move along the eastern path until it opens up, then head northward, going to the west at the intersection you should encounter. Continue north until the pink, worm-like object comes into view, at which point begin moving east-northeast until you find a taxi. Interact with the taxi to warp to the Highway. Travel southeast from the entry point of the Highway until you find a small building with a Robot Guard standing next to it. Bypass the Robot Guard and enter the building, then interact with the fairy to obtain the effect.
This effect can be used to fly over some gaps in terrain and to fly through small holes in walls that would otherwise be inaccesible. In older versions, this effect was located in Pokemon World.
Spacesuit
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: Motorcycle, Lantern)
From The Nexus, enter Geometry World. Travel west-southwest until you encounter a square block with a door set into it (it should be next to a row of other doorless blocks). Go through the door to enter the Dark Museum. Travel north and go through the northern door, then walk west down the hallway and enter through the door on the northern wall at the end of the hallway. Go north until the room opens up, then walk west until you see a cartoony mailbox. Interact with the mailbox to enter Flying Fish World. Navigate through the elevator systems and you'll eventually come across the effect lying on the ground (you'll pass by a boarded-up door on the way; this is Smile-san's room).
This effect allows you to pass over some gaps in terrain, and it is required to enter Space. Holding down the interact key will cause Urotsuki to do a somersault in place.
Glasses
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: Motorcycle, Lantern)
From The Nexus, enter Geometry World. Travel west-southwest until you encounter a square block with a door set into it (a row of smaller blocks should be directly to the right of this block). Go through this doorway to enter the Dark Museum. Move north and go through the northern door, then go west down the hallway and pass through the northern door at the end of the hallway. Head north until the room opens up, then interact with the cartoony mailbox located west of the door you just exited to enter Flying Fish World. Ignore the elevator entrance and instead travel west and interact with the identical cartoonish mailbox to teleport to the Museum (distinct from the Dark Museum). Go through the eastern door and interact with the moving glasses on the pedastal to obtain the effect.
This effect reveals some hidden items and modifies the appearance of a few visible object.
Rainbow
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: none)
From The Nexus, enter Theatre World. The effect is located directly southeast of the entry point.
This effect illuminates obscured tiles or objects, and can generate a rainbow in some rainy areas.
Wolf
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: Motorcycle)
From The Nexus, enter Mushroom World. Go west from the entry point until you find a white pavement trail, then follow the trail in a northwesterly direction until you find a green teleporter. Interact with the teleporter to go to the Bug Maze. Travel west along the path until you are forced to turn north, then take the northeastern path at the intersection. Follow the path until the next intersection, then go north at the intersection and follow the trail pointed to by the yellow arrow. Interact with the monochrome sign at the end of the trail to enter Sign World. Travel directly south from the entry point until you run into a sign, then go east until you encounter a heart. Head north from the heart and interact with the blue and white signpost to enter the Teleport Maze. Enter the teleporters in the following order: Right, right, up, right, right. Step on the white teleporter to your north to enter an enclosed beach area. Move east until you find a gray-haired NPC; interact with the NPC to obtain the effect.
This effect makes Urotsuki howl, which causes most NPCs to move away from her. Notably, this effect can be equipped on top of the Motorcycle effect for a mixed effect, allowing you to howl while on the motorcycle.
Eyeball Bomb
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: Fairy or Spacesuit)
From The Nexus, enter Toy World. Go south (the Fairy and Spacesuit effects allow for easier navigation of the slippery floor, if necessary) and pass through the east-facing door in the blue blocks to enter the Mini-Maze. The effect is located deep within the maze (the specific directions are too lengthy to list here), and it is visible on the maze's map.
This effect allows you to return to the Nexus at will, similarly to the Medamaude effect from Yume Nikki. Notably, this effect can be equipped but does not function in underwater areas.
Telephone
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: none)
From The Nexus, enter Marijuana Goddess World. Travel south and east across the body of the goddess until you reach the bottom row of tiles on the shape, then head due east until you find a pink doorway shaped similarly to a cat's mouth. Go through the doorway to enter the Dark Room. Enter the southern doors in the next two rooms, and you should arrive in a room with a faceless, bat-winged girl. Interact with the moving telephone to obtain the effect.
This effect triggers reactions in some NPCs, and is required to get the Twintail effect.
Maiko
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: none)
From The Nexus, enter Mushroom World. Go west until you encounter a white pavement path, then follow the pavement path in a northwesterly direction until you find a green teleporter. Interact with the teleporter to enter the Bug Maze. From the entry point, go west along the path until you are forced to go north, then take the northeastern trail at the intersection. Follow the path until the next intersection, go north at that intersection, and head west at the next intersection. Take the southern branch off of the western trail and walk between the two humanoid figures to enter The Hand Hub. Travel southeast from the entry point (ignore the other portal that's visible from the entry point) then take the closest northeast path. Interact with the portal at the end of this path to go to the Shinto Shrine. Go due north from the Hand Hub's entry point and take the main entrance into the shrine. The effect can be obtained from the animated geisha outfit, which is located roughly northeast from the main entrance's entry point.
This effect allows you to take the place of the geisha woman that manages the hotel in Japan Town, and it allows you to view the Odorika event. Holding down the interact key will make Urotsuki bow.
Penguin
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: none)
From The Nexus, enter Urotsuki's Dream House. Interact with the video game system next to the TV set. Once the game begins, walk along the eastern path (going up and down the ladders as necessary), then hold down the interact key to slide past the looping segment of the path. After that, go onto the next map, climb up the ladder, and face the ledge. The effect will automatically be in the menu the next time you go to sleep.
As described above, holding down the interact key causes Urotsuki to slide and bypass some events. In addition, this effect makes Urotsuki swim if it is equipped in an underwater area.
Bug
(Effects recommended to have before retrieving: Motorcycle, Chainsaw)
Go to Mushroom World and go northwest until you see a path leading to a strange object, and interact with it. Go left and up at the intersection. Interact with the flower to enter a forest. Chainsaw the bug guardian that is protecting the stone. Be careful not to get caught! Then go up and touch the stone. You will be transported to a world filled with stone pillars. Interact with the bug costume in the center to get the bug effect. The bug effect is known to attract things.
Note: It's risky to use invisibility because the guardian will move extremely fast and might bump into you.
Spring
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: Motorcycle)
Note: you will want to have text on to reach the library. To turn on text, just go to tools on the computer in the real world and select the TXT option. Choose the first choice to turn on.
Go to the library from the hub. Go down to the 2nd row of bookcases. Go left. At the 2nd book case you encounter, interact with the book on the far right. Keep pressing the enter key until you are transported to the apartments. From there go down the stairs and go up to the upper left corner. Enter the door. You will see more apartments. Enter the apartment on the 2nd floor. Go into the hole on the left. You will be in a long hall. Go right. Keep going right until you are transported to another hall. From there go right. When you reach the black and pink ghost interact with it. Then keep going right until you are transported to another hall. Enter the doors and then go up the stairs. You will be in a room with a clown with a spring for its legs. Talk to the clown to get the spring effect.
The spring effect causes Urotsuki to jump. You can jump onto things in certain areas with the spring effect.
Invisible
(Effects recommended to have before retrieving: Chainsaw, Motorcycle, Rainbow)
Can be found in space. To get there, you must first go to Marijuana Goddess World and go down until you see a blue neon hand. Enter that and go to the hand directly to the left. Go to the cone-head on your right. Go right until you see a dead end. Once you are at the dead end, go up and then right atthe first intersection. At the next intersection you encounter, go down. Keep going down until you see a red bowling ball. Interact with it to be transported to a bowling alley. Avoid the bowling balls that are going to run at you and go into the bowling pins. Once you interact with the bowling pins, you will be transported to a green and white world filled with bowling balls and pins (the bowling balls and pins will not do anything to you here). Go down from the starting point. Stop when you see a pink pin chopped in half. Go right from the half pin. You should see dots surrounded with bowling pins. Interact with the dots. You will be transported to a bowling alley. Go straight ahead in the bowling alley and you'll be teleported into a dark maze. Use the Rainbow Effect to make the paths visible. Go to the Lollipop Tree and interact with it. You will be transported to a beach. Kill the girl and then exit the area via the lollipop tree. The maze will be visible when you return from the Lollipop Tree. Go back to the entrance of the maze and you will be teleported to a place with a man in an okami mask. Just go in whatever directions he is facing and you'll be teleported into space. Go straight and follow the spiral to get to the Invisible Effect.
It can be used to hide from most enemies, but only if you are properly concealed using the Z button.
Cripple
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: none)
Can be found in Marijuana Goddess World. Go straight up until you see the grey blob things then go left until you see a giant pink door. Go in and go down into the next room. Go right and go up the stairs. Keep going right then go down the stairs and to the left into the next room. Continue going left until you reach a ladder, go up it to enter Japan Town.Go left until you see an alley. Enter it and go right. Keep on going right until you enter a nonsensical area. Go behind the entrance and then go down until you see a boy who seems to be hurt. Interact with him to get cripple effect.
It is simply cosmetic, however its action will cause Urotsuki to say her "I can't do that" lines.
Stretch/Tall
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: Glasses or Telephone)
Can be found through a painting in the art gallery. There are three ways to get there. The first is to follow the route to the room where you got the telephone effect. If the girl is reading, you can use the telephone effect to make her leave. Interact with her book to be transported to the art gallery. The second is to go to the Marijauna world. Go down and interact with the blue neon hand. Once you are in the giant neon hand, you will want to go all the way to the bottom. Interact with the blue hand there. You should be in a forest. From there, you will go to your left until you see an easel, enter that. The third, and shortest way, is to go to the heart world, and then interact with the pair of shoes. Then, once your on deciding street, go to the top left exit. From there interact with the Eyeball on the red stalk (0.094) or the red spiral (0.095). When you're in the art gallery, go to the second floor and enter the second to last painting on the right. Use the Glasses Effect and interact with the blob until the background turns black and white. Go down the map with the glasses still equipped. You should see a red and green eye. Enter that and you will be teleported to a maze. Go to the blue man on top of the maze. Next, go around the picture of the boy and the bloody trails. Go up the path beside the picture and you will be teleported to a laggy map. Find the blue diamond on your lower right and enter that. You will see a pink body in a pool of blood beside a sign. Interact with it and you will get the Tall /Stretch Effect.
It causes Urotsuki to double in height. Can be used to enter the baddie bar.
Haniwa (Gyroid)
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: Motorcycle)
Found somewhat deep into the Marijuana Goddess world. Go there, then down until the hand thing, and once there touch the top left hand thing to be warped to the Bug Maze. Go to the right and into the "secret" passage (which is obvious because of the arrow pointing to it), and navigate on the invisible paths until you find a sign, which leads to the Sign World. Find something that looks like some sort of blocky pyramid and go to the middle of it - this will cause the jumping character to disappear, as well as change the entire sign world. Go right from the pyramid until you see a set of rocks, and once in that thing that looks like Stonehenge, just go right until you reach the upper area (simply interact with the obstacles to make them disappear) and interact with the Gyroid at the top of the screen to get this effect, which makes you able to move Gyroids around when you hold Z (including the one that gave you the effect).
Cake
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: none)
Go to Theatre World. Move down about 6 steps directly below the entrance and then head right to find an arch-way. Enter the archway. From the entrance, hug the bottom of the gate and go left. Then down though the doorway. Then go left on the bottom until you see an opening, go through it.Stay in the middle of this gated area and go left until you find a silver fork. Interact with it and keep on going left. When on top up the fork, talk to the girl to get the effect. The cake effect drips when you hold Z. Simply cosmetic, but the girl in the world you got to the effect from will react strongly to you having this effect equipped.
Twintail
(Effects recommended to have before retrieving: Chainsaw, Telephone)
Go to the heart world. Enter the shoes. Go left under the red and white cover. Kill the teleohone in the room. Equip the telephone and stand in the spot where the telephone was. Wait a few seconds. The pink person should answer you. The screen will go black. After a few seconds, you will recieve the twintails effect.
In the 0.092i version of the game, talking to the Mirror Room ghost in the chess pattern floored house with the Twintails equipped will get you teleported into a similar-patterned hallway. The end of it will have the mirror with the ghost trapped in it. Breaking the mirror will cause the ghost to disappear. Otherwise the effect seems to be just cosmetic. Although, some character sprites indicate that Urotsuki may be able to use the twin tails as arms with the abililty to punch in the future.
Child
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving:motorcycle)
Go to the apartments from the library. Go down the stairs and to the upper left on the map once you are outside the bunny man's apartment. Go in the apartment directly in front you. Go in the portal. Follow this map to get to the submarine. The submarine will only be open 1/8 times you are there (if it's not, just walk on the tiles close to the nearest junction on the path, marked by little dots on the map near the submarine). Once in the submarine, wait about 5 minutes until the sonar sound starts sounding different and the background moves more slowly (you can interact with the girl to make the submarine invisible, which makes identifying that easier), then exit the submarine. You should now be at the bottom of the sea. Keep going down to the bottom of each map. They usually have only 1 or 2 exits in each, so it should not be hard getting to the end. The end is near a bed. When you find the bed, go left and interact with the white egg. You will be transported to a room with an egg in it. Interact with the egg to get the effect.
The child effect turns Urotsuki to about half her size. When you press z she jumps.
School Boy
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: motorcycle)
Can be found through a painting in the art gallery. There are two ways to get there. The first is to follow the route to the room where you got the telephone effect. If the girl is reading, you can use the telephone effect to make her leave. Interact with her book to be transported to the art gallery. The second is to go to the Marijuana world. Go down and interact with the blue neon hand. Once you are in the giant neon hand, you will want to go all the way to the bottom. Interact with the blue hand there. You should be in a forest. From there, you will go to your left until you see an easel. Enter that. When you're in the art gallery, go to the 5th painting on the first floor. Enter the painting. From the entrance, go up until you touch the fence. Then go right. Keep going right until the fence starts to go up. Go up with it. Go up through the area. Once you exit that area, go right and up. You should see a town. Go in the first opening and go down. go in the next opening. You see open and closed houses (some of them just lead to an island). Go all the way to the bottom. Enter the house on the bottom left. You'll be in a dark cave and keep on going left until you reach a new area. Follow the path until you see a blue guy and interact with him to get the school boy effect. Hold Z to flap your cape.
Alternate way: from the entrance of the monochrome world, go down until you touch the fence, then right until you touch the fence again. Go down until you can go right again, and then do that until you pass through a gate. There's only one way until the lot of houses, so it shouldn't be too hard to figure your way there. Once you do, go as far down as you can, then as far left as possible. Find the open house closest to where you are, then in this small world find the student.
Trombone
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: Lantern)
Follow instructions for the Red Riding Hood effect until it mentions the three bleeding faces. "Make sure you are left to the farthest left face and then go down".The small green man should be walking around near the top area of the UFO door. Talk to him to be transported to a world with multicolored walls that have zippers in them. Wander around until you find a zipper that touches the floor. Use the lantern to open it. You should see a multicolored man holding a trombone. If you see a face with sharp teeth exit the room and locate another zipper in the area. ( The lantern opens all of the big zippers in this world) The man will be in one of the zippers.
The trombone will play a tune when you press z. It also causes the creatures with trumpets on them to change colors and slow down. You can also play a duet with Elvis Masada if you talk to him while it is equipped.
Tissue
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: Motorcycle)
Head to the Mushroom world. From the entrance go left until you hit a wall of white and red mushrooms. Go down around the mushrooms and look for an opening in the mushroom fence. Go up and to the area with the red cracks. Find a white blob with red eyes and interact with it. Next, go in between the pair of eyes. From there take the red path down. When it branches go left and continue to follow the path. You will come across a large group of mushrooms. Just go along the bottom and take the first path that goes down. Follow it and you should come across a white face surrounded by 5 mushrooms. Interact with it. You will be transported to a world filled with snow. Go down. Ignore the door to the right and keep going down. Get through the area( it is pretty straight foward so it should not be hard.) Once you exit that area, go left and enter the center of the +. Go right from the entrance. When you encounter a green bubble creature go up. You should see a tower. Enter it and wait for your character to get to the top. When you reach the top, interact with the blue box to get the tissues.
The tissue turns Urotsuki's head into a tissue box. She can drop tissues that can be used as markers.
Little Red Riding Hood
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: Motorcycle)
Go to Christmas World and interact with the smallest tree. Locate the manequin walking around in the Exibition and talk to him. In the nails area, locate the hexagonally shaped door. Enter it and go all the way to the end of the area. In the window room, make sure that the things in the window are bears. Once you are in the bear area, locate the telephone pole and interact with it. In the red and black area, find the black tube with the red eye and interact with it. From there, go left until you see 3 bleeding faces. Make sure you are left to the farthest left face and then go down. You should see a door with a space ship on it. Enter it and you will find yourself in a grey room with an odd creature and a UFO. If the UFO is not there, just exit the room and re enter it. Keep doing that until the UFO shows up. Enter the UFO. Go to the left door and enter it. Intaract with the computer on the left and select the apple option. You will hear a beeping sound. In the far right room in the UFO a clock will be counting down how long until you reach your destination. Once the clock hits zero, exit the UFO and go all the way down until you see a tree. Interact with the tree to get the effect.
The Red Riding Hood is simply cosmetic. It dresses Urotsuki up like the story book character Red Riding Hood.
Polygon
(Effect recommended to have before retrieving: Motorcycle)
Go to the Grey Road from Red Streetlight World and cycle around the black areas. You should find a staircase leading underground. Go down it and keep traveling right until you come to a grassy area. Now go right until you come to a group of streetlights in a circle. Cycle upwards and interact with the small four-leafed shoot coming out of the ground. You'll be transported to the Warehouse.
Continue traveling right again through the area until you come to a white doorway on your left. When you enter it, you will be transported to a pinkish rooftop with a rotating triangle. Interact with it to get the Polygon effect.
The effect makes Urotsuki look like she is made of blocks, and if you press Z, a green outline will appear around her and her texture will become more detailed.
Pseudo Effects
This is a list of the effects that either cannot be collected, combinations of effects or are still in development.
Outfits
Dressing Room
Whenever you interact with the manequins with outfits on in the Dressing Room, your outfit changes. You can also wear the Glasses effect with the suit and the Twintails effect with the maid outfit.
If you go to the hot springs from the Mini Maze in Toy World, Urotsuki's outfit changes into a blue swimsuit with a light blue swim cap.
In Christmas World (accessible from the Hand Hub), go into the large house and chainsaw the man wearing a Christmas hat. Interact with the hat and your outfit changes to a Santa Claus costume.
Combo Effects
This is the only combo effect currently programmed in the game. By selecting the Wolf effect and then the Motorcycle, you are able to ride the motorcycle as a wolf.
School Boy/Glasses File:Policemask.png
There are currently only two sprites of this effect available on the sprite sheets, but it looks like you have a sheet of paper in front of your face with a drawing of glasses and a mustache on it (a disguise?).
These Bug combos are available in the Debug Mode of the game. Using Rainbow with Bug makes you into a rainbow-colored bug, using (possibly) Chainsaw and Bug makes you a bee, and using Bug with an unknown effect makes you a green beetle.
School Boy/Bike
Only available on a sprite sheet currently. It's basically Urotsuki with the School Boy effect riding the bike.
In Development
This can transform you into a walking block from Toy World included in past versions of the game. You are able to get this from the E tile somewhere in Toy World, but its abilities are unknown.
This effect gives Urotsuki bat wings. This is also obtainable from the E tile in Toy World, yet it is only cosmetic for the time being.
This effect makes you look like Odorika, and seems to be only cosmetic. This is currently only available on a sprite sheet.
