[[Category:Jared]] The Poseidon Plaza is an area accessed through the hatch in Portrait Purgatory.

Features

This area represents a closed market hall early in the morning, with hanging flags scattered across the place which bear two types of icons that made allusion of Poseidon, being the Trident and the Maelstrom. The entire building is shadowed by its tall ceiling, with spots of light from the dawn sky dotting the ground from different kinds of windows and sections with wide, intricate glass ceilings. Poseidon plaza is currently divided between four large accessible sections, having the main ones the center, west and south areas, and a dimly lit warehouse.

Center Plaza

Serving as the entrance for this location, the center section has a route split in four different ways, being the ones accessible in the far south and another one on the far west of this area. In the middle of the plaza there is a war tank, illuminated by a large glass pannel. By interacting with the ladder of the tank you can return to Portrait Purgatory. Around the tank, there are four closed stores, having the ones in the left section large locked glass doors, and the ones in the right side having three unique looking, dark blue vending machines. There are a few ghost-like translucent NPCs that can be found littered around here, all of them assuming different abstract shapes. None of these NPCs react to any effect.

Additionally, some plastic fruit boxes scattered and compilled all over the place, including the back and front of the buildings on the left and right sections, To the northeast there is a small locked door with a fire extinguisher on the left and a big door in the northwest part which cannot be opened due to its unreachable doorknob. You will notice some arrows and Xs made of bright yellow tiles in the end of the four ways. West and south has the arrows, indicating available areas. However, the east and north parts has Xs on the ground, which means you can't go further, as these connections are still a work in progress.

Poseidon Food Court

This area is a wide food court located west of the entrance. In this area you can find plenty of chairs, isometric set tables, lamp posts and plant decorations. By hugging the north wall you can find some empty restaurants with cash registers peeking from behind the counters and others completely closed. In the middle of the Plaza there is two fountains, being the right one empty with some deactivated fountain sprinklers and the left one with a large statue of the greek God Poseidon, highlighted with an opening on the roof. If you go right below the statue, the screen automatically will go up, showing the top, while also allowing you to walk left and right to see the statue at your own pace.

If you head right from the statue, you can find a few more fire extinguishers and a big staircase, blocked midway though by construction barricades. As you explore the area you can notice the lighting being much more saturated and red due to the coloration of the ground.

Cetus Fountain Plaza

If you go south from the entrance, you'll find yourself in the Cetus Fountain Plaza. By continuing on heading south you will notice an upper path bridge that you can cross under. After crossing the bridge you can see a fountain bright by the open roof with a statue of the greek sea monster, Cetus. By approaching it from the sides and the bottom, the camera will pan towards the statue, just like the statue of Poseidon. If you go to the lower left and right of this area you can find a staircase, where you can go up to the bridge, finding more empty stores, metal tables and chairs, having in the middle of the bridge two yellow and orange parasols.

Right below the bridge there are some vending machines close to a couple of empty stores and others attached to the walls of the two staircases. Besides the common dark blue ones, there are noticeably special looking machines in this area. Some of them are presumably coffee machines which are currently not functional, and white and blue vending machines that also does not react when interacted with, making only a button noise. If you keep going to the south from Cetus statue, you will find some flower decorations and benches around some closed buildings with plastic fruit boxes compiled below.

Follow this path and the area will take you to three arrowed decals on the ground pointing to the southwest, which implies there is another connecting area. However, this area only connects to a small dark corridor intersection separated by two paths, The left path is blocked by construction barricades, leading the player to go right instead, taking them to the Warehouse. There is nothing interesting to see in this intersection except for the fire extinguisher close to the construction sign.

Warehouse area

As you arrive in this place, you will notice scattered and compiled wooden boxes around the area between forklifts with different colors. Right at the entrance you can see a staircase that takes you to the upper part of the garage. After passing the first staircase you will notice some windows, showing a dark purple sky through them. Nevertheless, you can't access through the second one which is also blocked by a construction sign.

If you keep going to the right you will end up finding two doors. As mentioned in the first area, the small door can't be opened and this one is no exception, same going for the big one. Going further east shows you two large garage doors littered with small stickers and notes, with big no-parking signs on the middle of each one.

Between these two garage doors, there is another small closed door illuminated by a glowing exit sign on its side. In the compiled boxes around the blue forklift, you can find two vacuum sealed skulls resting on pallets, being the first one located in the blue white boxes and the second one located in the second row of wooden boxes on the left.

Trivia

  • Poseidon plaza takes a major inspiration and share many visual motifs with Rákóczi Square Market Hall, in Budapest, Hungary and Mercatto delle vettovaglie, in Livorno, Italy.
  • The statue of Poseidon and Cetus are likely to be a reference to the tale of Perseus and Andromeda, where Andromeda's mother, queen of Aethiopia, enraged Poseidon, making him send the sea monster, Cetus, to destroy land as an act of revengeance.
