The Zippertile is a wall decoration that is similar in appearance to a zipper. It has a blue head with a white and pink "body". It has a white, open mouth on its face while having a black right eye and a pink left eye. Two orange appendages sprout from the sides of its head: a leg from its right and an arm from its left.
The Zippertile initially appears to be just like the other Zippertiles found around Number World, having a smiling blue face with one black right eye and one pink left eye, a zipper-like body, and orange limbs protruding from its head that resemble an arm and leg. However, a 1/8 chance determined upon when Madotsuki goes to sleep may cause it change its appearance to have an unhappy appearance, revealing the white inside of its mouth. When interacted with in this unhappy state, it moves its mouth and makes a low noise.


Usually, its appearance is the same as the other wall decorations in Number World, having a smile on its face. If it has a happy appearance, the player is advised to wake up and return repeatedly until it changes. Occasionally, the face will have an unhappy expression with an open mouth.
While in its unhappy state, the Zippertile can be stabbed with the [[Yume Nikki:Effects#Knife|Knife]] effect, which will briefly make it change its expression as it screams, confirming it is alive and not just a wall decoration. After being stabbed, it will smile again, though it will be vomiting out blood that forms into a dark doorway that can be entered. Upon entering, [[Yume Nikki:Madotsuki|Madotsuki]] will find herself in the Number World Stairway.


Zippertile is one of the few NPCs that the player has to use the [[Effects#Knife_.EF.BC.88.E3.81.BB.E3.81.86.E3.81.A1.E3.82.87.E3.81.86.EF.BC.89|Knife]] on to access a new area, in most cases the [[Effects#Cat_.EF.BC.88.E3.81.AD.E3.81.93.EF.BC.89|Cat]] is enough to move a character.
Part of the Zippertile can be seen from the Stairway, though with a very distorted appearance. Its face and doorway are simply a mass of multicolored pixels that vaguely resemble its shape.

When using the Knife on it, Zippertile makes a surprised expression and opens its zipper to reveal a hole that gives entry to the [[Number World#The Stairway|The Stairway]], where [[KyuuKyuu-kun]] can be found. Their mouth then smiles again and oozes a red liquid that borders the entry hole.

Entering the hole reveals that part of them can still be seen from the other side, however with some slight changes. The left eye is now round, not square and they seem to possess a small pink nose.
 
It does not react to any other effects, however as it screams when the Knife effect is used, it is considered "alive" and not just a wall decoration. Not only that, but interacting with it in its unhappy state causes its mouth to move and make a sound.
