| [[Yen]] is the currency used in [[Yume Nikki]] and can be randomly gained from killing NPCs. Often after stabbing a character with the [http://yumenikki.wikia.com/wiki/Effects#Knife Knife Effect] equipped, there will be a scream and a short coin animation, signalling you've earned money from the kill. It serves no other purpose in the game other than being used to obtain [[Heart]]s from [[Vending Machine]]s. However, the [[Heart]]s themselves appear to do nothing as you cannot be injured in the game. You can view your total amount of [[Yen]] from the main menu in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
