Yes, make a backup of all the *.lsd files in the game's root directory, then put them back to the same place with the new installation. The game will throw an in-game error message about incorrect save data version, but it's most likely a bug, and causes nothing, your save data will work.
I think you don't have to donwload any of the "patches" if you have the correct RTP.
