Crow Forest is an area accessible from the Train in Labyrinth of Dread.

Map of Crow Forest

Features

Crow Forest is an ominous area featuring several allusions to crows. Many Shadow Bird chasers are scattered about the area, by whom being caught leads to the Crow's Lair, as well as the occasional sound effects of cawing and wings flapping. Alongside this, several white mushrooms and odd red plants are seen throughout the main section. Strange red tentacles can be found protruding from holes in the ground. The effect actions of Bat and Penguin cannot be used in this world.

From the Labyrinth of Dread entrance, Urotsuki starts in front of a sign on a grey train platform with a railroad running beside it. Around the edge of the platform, a fence keeps out a few Shadow Birds.

Heading down the steps and continuing east leads to the next section. Here, the area is noticeably darker, and several pairs of brown eyes in the woods watch Urotsuki as she travels. If she uses the Invisible effect, they lose track of her.

At the end of the winding path is the entrance to the main area. This is significantly less linear, allowing you to explore more freely. The section is made up of many small clearings in the woods, with paths between them under the treetops.

North, near the entrance, is a clearing of trees forming a path. Continuing down, it places Urotsuki into a square loop, with some Shadow Birds lurking within it. The only way to exit this is to be caught by a chaser.

Southeast of the entrance is a diagonal row of construction barriers. The clearing behind them only contains a large red tentacle emerging from a hole in the ground.

East of the entrance is another hole, in which an eye can be seen. The eye vanishes as Urotsuki approaches. Northeast of this hole is a sign and cone, partially obscured by the treetops.

In the southeast of the area is a figure with red eyes, wearing a purple robe. Equipping the Glasses effect gives them a full face. Equipping the Marginal effect causes them to become single-eyed. Equipping the Chainsaw effect removes their eyes, and attempting to use it on them causes them to disappear and spawn Shadow Bird chasers nearby.

In the northeast of the area, the forest opens up into a large clearing, containing a stretch of water with a bridge running across it. At the other end of the bridge is a construction sign, mostly obscured by the treetops. Chainsawing this object causes a fierce roar to be heard, followed by the sign being replaced with a humanoid version with legs and a face, still almost entirely hidden by the trees. Unequipping the Chainsaw returns it to normal.

Crow's Lair

Upon being caught by any chaser in Crow Forest, Urotsuki will be transported to another clearing, where she will at first be lying in a nest with a gigantic red-eyed crow watching her. Upon hopping up from that position, several fast Shadow Birds will emerge from the woods and begin chasing Urotsuki. Being caught by any of them returns her to a seemingly isolated section of the main area, which can be exited from the right side. Successfully avoiding the Crow's Lair chasers and making your way south allows you to re-enter the main area from a different location. Attempting to return to Crow's Lair from there will cause Urotsuki to make a refusal sound.

Trivia

  • Several aspects of this world are reminiscent of the Dense Woods B in Yume Nikki. After arriving from the Labyrinth of Dread Train, similar to the Traincar, there are large eyes that resemble the Isee in the Dark Woods. Additionally, the red tentacles are reminiscent of Manhole-sama.
  • When the area was first added, it was possible to go beneath the treetops near the row of diagonal construction barriers to access the large red tentacle.
