Are you chainsawing the first pair of green and red pillars you see after the first 2 mazes? Those don't do anything. There's a hidden passage to the left of the crevices that takes you to a hall with 2 black blobs with red and green in the end and they're both chainsawable. As far as i know they dont need any additional requirements to chainsaw them.
