Manhole-sama (also nicknamed Roary Straw) appears under the manhole between the Road and the White Desert Mountain Ring.

Overview

Manhole-sama is a gray creature resembling a human head in shape, sporting three open eyes. At its sides are red loopy chords or tentacles which can be interacted with, being used to climb up and down. In front of it is also a rectangular platform.

Manhole-sama after looping through the Infinite Road at least six times.

Depending on how many times Madotsuki has looped through the Infinite Road, Manhole-sama will change appearance. Looping three times will have Manhole-sama appear in its standard gray appearance. Looping six or more times will cause Manhole-sama to become red with flowing gray hair and a dirty splotch on its neck. Its two uppermost eyes will also squint as if to emote joy, and a red hand-like appendage will appear to the left of it.

Trivia

  • The tentacles are interpreted to look similar to umbilical cords or red straws.
  • Their alternate fan-name is a play on the name of the Moshi Monsters character Roary Scrawl.
  • Due to an oversight, the number of times the player looped through the Infinite Road is kept in the save file, and is only reset if entering the Infinite Road from Dense Woods A through the upper half of the road. Staying on the lower half keeps the manhole open or even Manhole-sama's red variant, gaining access on that save file without having to loop through the Infinite Road the usual number of times.
