It's possible that the inclusion of UFOs in Madotsuki's dreams may relate to her mindset. Since UFOs and aliens are commonly associated with outer space, it could mean Madotsuki wants to explore or go into the outside world again, though she can't or won't exit her room no matter how many times the player attempts to leave. Their inclusion may also be because Madotsuki feels "alien" to the world and thus secluded herself in her room. | It's possible that the inclusion of UFOs in Madotsuki's dreams may relate to her mindset. UFOs are strange, flickering objects that are sometimes seen in the game.
Overview
UFOs appear as distant, flickering objects seen within the sky of some areas. One of them appears in the Sky Garden while many can appear on Mars. They are never seen in great detail, as they are usually spotted from far away, so they are often represented through a small cluster of moving pixels. They appear to be spinning as they fly.
In the Sky Garden, one of them appears flying over a distant cityscape, watched by the Maussan Bros. Its movement can range from small hovering motions to extremely quick zips across the skyline. It is unaffected by any effects.
On Mars, several UFOs are capable of appearing on the summit found in the area's western portion. After repeatedly using the Cat effect at the top of the hill on Mars, there is a 1/4 chance that a UFO will appear, spinning and flying to the scene at different speeds, which is much more noticeable when multiple UFOs can be observed there. The player can continue to meow with the Cat effect to attract UFOs, though they will stop appearing after 35 attempts.
Trivia
- In the files of the game, they share the same file name with the Severed Heads: UFO. This also makes them one of the few objects with official names.
- Though the UFOs are never seen up-close, the player is able to enter a spaceship which flies through space upon entering its main room and crashes onto Mars during an event.
Theories
It's possible that the inclusion of UFOs in Madotsuki's dreams may relate to her mindset. Since UFOs and aliens are commonly associated with outer space, it could mean Madotsuki wants to explore or go into the outside world again, though she can't or won't exit her room no matter how many times the player attempts to leave. Their inclusion may also be because Madotsuki feels "alien" to the world and thus secluded herself in her room.
Some believe that the inclusion of UFOs, as well as the game's strange visuals and alien-like characters, are due to an actual alien invasion or event that happened on Earth, leading to Madotsuki staying in her room to protect herself. However, this theory is often rejected due to its absurdity.
