====Memories====
'''Memories''' are collectibles within ''Muma Rope'' that replace the usual effects found within many ''Yume Nikki'' fan games. While they serve the same purpose of being a group of collectibles that are scattered throughout the game's world, only a few select memories can be actually utilized like effects. When a memory is obtained, it will show up as an orange square on the save screen. There are a total of 28 memories.

===General / Yume Wiki===
====Effects====
'''Effects''' are collectibles found within ''Yume Nikki'' and many of its fangames. They act as a primary "goal" in the games they appear in and urge the player to explore the game's worlds in order to find them. They are typically rewarded to the player for interacting with unique NPCs or objects, searching deep into the dream world, or solving puzzles or mazes. They are usually equipped through the game's menu and serve a variety of functions.
While not all ''Yume Nikki'' fangames have effects, they may have an equivalent that has a different function and ultimately share the same trope of being collectibles scattered throughout the game to find. This is the case for fangames such as ''Muma Rope'', which instead has "Memories". Some fangames may not even refer to the collectibles as effects and may use a different name instead, such as in the game ''Answered Prayers'' where the effects are referred to as "Prayers".
=====Effect Usage and Types=====
Effects have a variety of uses, though they do not always have to benefit the player when used. Some effects can give the player useful abilities, such as being able to move faster or clear obstacles, while others may not be as helpful, such as those that are purely cosmetic or slow the player's movement speed.
Another use of effects is to interact with characters found around the dream world. Some effects can be used on a wide variety of NPCs with a largely similar outcome, such as the Knife effect from ''Yume Nikki'' allowing a large majority of NPCs in the game to be killed. Some effects may simply result in unique reactions from NPCs, even if the effects themselves can not affect most characters on a larger degree, such as the Cake effect from ''Yume 2kki'' making the character Akako happy.
There are several types of effects seen through fangames which serve the same purpose or function, such as increasing movement speed or allowing NPCs to be killed. These effects are typically derived or inspired by effects in the original ''Yume Nikki'' and usually serve the same purpose as existing effects from said game. Below is a list of effect types that are commonly seen throughout fangames alongside their original game equivalent:

|Speed Increase
|Increases the player's movement speed, which is much faster than walking. This can be used to explore worlds faster or to get to deeper locations in less time. In some fangames, this effect type is replaced with a "Run" button or simply a faster walking speed.

Welcome to my sandbox. This is where I'll put stuff when I'm experimenting with wiki assets, constructing new pages, or just doing trivial analytical things for fun.

Specific World Exploration

Documenting how the dream world can be explored under certain conditions and other various things related to the dream world. Click Expand to view contents.

Name Articles

The "Name" articles are a series of articles originally created by Mt.kiki on the old Yume Nikki Wiki. These pages list various theories relating to Yume Nikki and possible design inspirations for various aspects of the game. As the articles (likely) provide a Japanese point-of-view on the game's visuals and themes, they are likely to give better insight into possible design processes while creating Yume Nikki.

As the articles are either largely written in Japanese, have broken Google-Translated English, or are copy-pasted from other websites, I'd like to try and see if I could decode what each of the article's sections intends to communicate. This is also done to squeeze the contents of the articles into a smaller, usually multi-paragraph, state so that it can be read from a single section rather than an entire article.

Not all of the articles have currently been analyzed or translated, so this is still a work-in-progress section. Once one has been completed, an image will accompany the section.
