Playzone Maze is an area accessible from Altered Plains.

Features

Playzone Maze is a spirit world that resembles a family entertainment center. More specifically, the bulk of the world is made up of several small, colorful segments that mimic an elaborate tube maze. Dissonant music plays in the background of this world, as though emitting from a loudspeaker.

Entering this world from Altered Plains brings Minnatsuki to a map containing a facade of the titular maze. A door on the left side of the facade serves as the main entrance to the maze, though there is a second entrance in the netting to the right that can be difficult to see.

Currently, Playzone Maze is a dead end spirit world with two open connections. The world's only entrance from Altered Plains is also the world's only exit.

Tube Maze

There are a total of 18 unique segments inside the maze. One of these segments is very small and can only be accessed using the Youth or Rodentia eidola. Not all screen transitions within the maze are clearly marked, which can make navigation difficult. Even so, the multitude of diverging paths within the maze frequently overlap with one another, making it unlikely for one to become hopelessly lost.

For simplicity, this article breaks the tube maze down into two informal sections: the "main path" and the "youth section."

Main Path

When following the path from the main entrance to the maze, the first fork in the path is in a green tunnel. The exit on the north side of this tunnel is only accessible when using the Youth or Rodentia eidola, leading to the youth section.

Continuing east from the first fork leads to a room with another diverging path; climbing down the ladder in this room leads to a very small segment where a crying girl can be found. The girl does not have special interactions with any eidola and can be killed with Soulfire. If killed, the girl will return only after leaving and returning to Playzone Maze.

Climbing up the ladder at the previous fork leads to yet another diverging path in a room with red netting; going down the red slide leads to the youth section while continuing to the east on the main path will eventually lead to a large blue room with a ladder, a green slide, and two colorful ramps. There is another connection to the youth section in the southeast corner of this room that can only be accessed by pressing the action key (potentially an oversight). This is the last location on the main path that connects to the youth section. Going down the green slide will instead continue on the main path. If desired, it is possible to climb up the green slide in reverse.

The final fork on the main path is in a room with black netting that will "wobble" when walked on, shaking the screen, though climbing down the ladder in this room only leads to a small dead end. To the east of the fork is a room with large, hanging sandbags that will slow Minnatsuki down as they walk by. The slide in this room is a one-way exit that will deposit Minnatsuki in a large ball pit with an open connection sign. Traveling through the torn netting in the ball pit will return Minnatsuki to the outside of the tube maze.

Youth Section

The youth section is a small side section of the tube maze consisting of 5 segments. It contains a segment that can only be accessed using the Youth or Rodentia eidola; this segment is accessible through the small opening at the first fork on the main path. This segment can be further identified as having a unique yellow color. It is not possible to select different eidola in this segment, and it is not possible to change between Minnatsuki's two forms while using Rodentia (unless the room is entered from the east side, which is assumed to be a bug). As is the case with the entrance on the north side, this segment cannot be entered from the east or west side without using the Youth or Rodentia eidola.

Exiting the yellow segment to the east leads to a room containing an NPC - an egg with wings - that does not initially react to Minnatsuki's presence. Equipping the Soulfire eidolon will cause the egg to freeze in place and turn to face Minnatsuki while flapping its wings. Burning the egg with Soulfire will cause it to change appearance, with its eggshell cracked open, revealing the yolk inside.

Exiting the yellow segment to the west leads to a room with three hanging sandbags. As with the sandbags on the main path, Minnatsuki will be slowed down while walking past each of the three sandbags. The southwest exit in the sandbag room leads to a small dead end with an open connection sign, and the west exit in the sandbag room leads to the room with the green slide on the main path.

A room with two colorful ramps and a red slide can be accessed by climbing down the ladder in the egg room or via the southeast exit in the sandbag room. It is possible to climb up the slide in this room, connecting to the top of the red slide on the main path.
