Hall of Malignant Statues is an area accessible from the white pawn in Twisted Chess Void.
Features
Hall of Malignant Statues is a small, looping world consisting of a gallery of marble statues. The hall's largely white tile flooring features numerous large gaps within it that reveal a vast space beneath, home to a drifting nebula of red and purple hues. A network of flashing, brown tile pathways connect the sculptures on display. Pools of water shallow enough to be walked across can be seen throughout the area. Many of the pools have plants growing from them, while some spill over the edge of the floor, creating waterfalls that pour into the space below. Curiously, these waterfalls appear to dissipate abruptly after falling for just a short distance. The same plants that reside within the pools also feature abundantly as floor decorations, being held within round, white pots. Velvet rope and white stanchions form barriers of various configurations at various positions across the gallery.
A white pawn chess piece standing between two potted plants serves as the connection to Twisted Chess Void. Two white open connection signs, each surrounded by velvet rope, can be found to the east and southeast of this connection.
The marble statues on display stand above square, red carpets with gold trimming at the left and right sides. Most of the sculptures are additionally supported by tall, gray, rectangular pedestals. Only two of these pedestals can be interacted with—one of them featuring not a statue at all, but a small cubic topiary tree that serves as a connection to Square Garden.
The only other interactable pedestal can be found north of the Square Garden connection, and features a kinetic sculpture of a dunking bird on top of it. Interacting with it will cause Minnatsuki to unequip any currently equipped eidola and display a full-screen 3D animation of the bird dunking its beak into a glass of water while Minnatsuki gazes up at it. Each time this pedestal is interacted with, there is a 1/11 chance[note 1] that a figure, only visible by their black shoes and pants, will appear behind Minnatsuki during the animation.
The remaining sculptures, all of which depict human figures, and produce no effect upon being interacted with, include:
- A standing figure which appears to hold an unknown object in its right hand, found southwest of the Twisted Chess Void connection.
- A standing figure with its left hand raised and its right arm stretched out to the side, found northeast of the Twisted Chess Void connection.
- A small, sitting figure, found just northwest of the Twisted Chest Void connection.
- A figure in a lateral recumbent position—notably, the only sculpture not atop a pedestal, instead lying directly upon the red carpet—found northwest of the Square Garden connection.
After Hours
Immediately to the east of the dunking bird statue is a potted plant that can be pushed over the edge of the floor and into the void below by interacting with it, thus beginning the After Hours event. By then standing in the spot where the potted plant once stood for about 6.5 uninterrupted seconds,[note 2] a startling noise will play as the demon Darcy, cloaked in shadow, appears a short distance to the west of Minnatsuki and charges at them, causing them to unequip any currently equipped eidola while falling into the pit. The screen will then fade to black, and a few moments later, fade in to a view of Minnatsuki trapped within a square enclosure formed out of stanchions, the world now cast in a dim orange light. From here, Minnatsuki can only escape by using the Umbra eidolon or by returning from the spirit world. Just north of the enclosure in which Minnatsuki is imprisoned, a humanoid marble statue can be seen running in a straight line to the west, looping perpetually as it circumnavigates the world's short width in short time.
I've Been Known to Waltz
Viewing one of the events found within this world, I've Been Known to Waltz, requires that Minnatsuki use the Soulfire eidolon on Darcy in Square Garden and escape through that world's connection to Hall of Malignant Statues without being caught by the translucent variant of Darcy's shadowed form that will appear and aggressively chase after Minnatsuki.[note 3]
Upon entering Hall of Malignant Statues with the above conditions satisfied, the world will appear dramatically different. Minnatsuki will emerge into a nearly pitch-black dark space from a desaturated cuboid topiary tree. The tree stands at the southern end of a short, vertical passage surrounded by barriers that cannot be seen in the darkness. Just beyond the northern edge of the passage is a small spotlight, under which Darcy, seen here in their normal form with visible red skin and horns, dances to waltz music with Krarav, another demon-like figure that closely resembles Darcy. Five mysterious figures, who can only be seen by their white eyes glowing from the darkness, surround the spotlight. The figures will watch Minnatsuki's movement while occasionally turning in place.
Four pedestals supporting marble sculptures, each draped in heavy shadow, are arranged into a large square formation, framing much of the scene. The sculptures present include:
- The standing figure which can also seen in the world's normal state, displayed here in the southeast corner.
- The sitting figure which can also seen in the world's normal state, displayed here in the southwest corner.
- A kneeling figure, displayed in the northwest corner.
- A seemingly unworked marble slab, displayed in the northeast corner.
Interacting with the edge of the spotlight at the middle will cause rain to begin to fall as a fullscreen animation, featuring a closer view of Krarav and Darcy's waltz under the spotlight while the watching eyes of two figures can be seen through the darkness behind them, will play. Upon pressing the interact key to dismiss the animation, Minnatsuki will be transported to an isolated section of Square Garden where Darcy watches from above. The only way to escape is to either return from the spirit world or use the Umbra eidolon.

Notes
- ↑ A 9.09% chance.
- ↑ Walking away from this position will reset the timer, as the only adjacent tile without collision is programmed to do so when it is stepped on. Additionally, many actions, including some that could be used to bypass this tile, are disabled while Minnatsuki is standing in this position, including opening the main menu, opening the gestures menu, returning from the spirit world, and using eidolon actions. Any other actions, such as turning in place, will not reset the timer.
- ↑ The event will not trigger if Minnatsuki escapes by using the Umbra eidolon, or by returning from the spirit world and subsequently making their way back to Hall of Malignant Statues.
