You are probably in Deserted Town. I'm assuming you aren't using the most recent version of the game, so the connection from this area to the Town Maze is still there.
I think you went to the Town Maze, which used to appear once you go upstairs 45 times if you have accessed the Forest Pier before, then you found the connection from the Town Maze to the Deserted Town.
