Isolation is an area accessible from a static-filled television in Psyche.

Map of Isolation

Features

Warning

This world contains flashing imagery that may make it unsuitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy or other photosensitive conditions. Player discretion is advised.

Isolation comprises small, interconnected white rooms arranged as a maze. However, anomalies that defy the logical layout of the area occur, like rooms looping on themselves, corridors seemingly stretching infinitely, or previously visited rooms vanishing completely. White beds tainted by a blue substance can be found within a few of these rooms, which can be destroyed piece by piece with the Soulfire eidolon.

Movement within this area is restricted, forcing Minnatsuki to walk. Equipping the Lumen eidolon envelops the screen with a blinding light, obstructing visibility.

A haunting tune will play while traversing this labyrinth, except for one room surrounded by eyes northeast of the entrance. Here, the usually eerie soundtrack is replaced by a calm, quiet tune that, upon conclusion, leaves the room in absolute silence.

Another notable feature is a section containing only the torso of a mannequin, which can be found northwest from the entrance if the previously described room surrounded by eyes has been visited. Interacting with this mannequin triggers the Shadow Sentinel event, trapping Minnatsuki in everlasting darkness with no escape (intentional softlock). Entering this space confines Minnatsuki within a set of three rooms: the one with the torso, another with a solitary bed, and a third room held by large monochromatic hands, where shadowy creatures with elongated faces rapidly move around in the confined space. Interacting with two specific elongated faces (both of them have different colored eyes, and one activates another) amongst them leads to a room shaped like an L with a door on the bottom, which leads to the Monochrome Mausoleum. If Minnatsuki remains in the screaming faces room for five minutes, then the background will instantly change to an eerie purple sky while calming piano music plays for 59 seconds. Besides that, exiting Monochrome Mausoleum results in coming back to an infinite hallway trap!

Additionally, interacting with the mannequin while equipped with an eidola with Altered Sight will only summon a big hidden eye as its head. A haunting BONG sound promptly plays afterward.

The most notable feature of the labyrinth is the northeasternmost room, which can be accessed only using an eidola with Altered Sight. The entrance to the room is naturally blocked off, leaving no trace of the usual black door except for a primitive drawing of an eye. Once accessed, the eerie ambiance dies down slowly as Minnatsuki is confined to a decrepit room with mismatched tiles, defying the repetitive white layout of the previous rooms. At the bottom-left corner is a solitary bed, and sitting at the top-right corner is Her. The notable NPC wears a gray gas mask with a white dress but strikes a remarkable resemblance to the protagonist. Whether she is facing your direction or not (depending on the Main Random Variable), interacting with her, regardless of eidola, instantly transports the helpless Minnatsuki to a white void, or solitary confinement in her perspective.

Thereafter, a quick appearance of a grainy low-quality picture of Minnatsuki (or Her...) on a makeshift surgeon's bed flashes instantly, followed by hard static, disrupting the environment before an unhappy repetitive piano tune replaces the soundtrack.

  • If Her was interacted with without an eidola equipped, then Minnatsuki is the NPC, temporarily.
  • There is constantly a 1/25 chance of the same flashing picture occurring, but later, a subtle heartbeat is heard and looped with a 1.5-second delay.

The white void is empty except for a solitary creature, the same as previously referenced, rapidly spinning in motion, in the exact middle of the map. Nevertheless, every minute spent in the void results in a darker screen and a slower movement speed, until ten minutes pass where everything is completely dark and silent.

However, if the creature is interacted with before time runs out, then all hell breaks loose! Glitches upon glitches wrap the world into a state of madness, with sounds of errors accompanying the chaotic disruption. 1.0-3.2 seconds later (depending on the Main Random Variable), in ten seconds, a green pixelated command shell restarts the system until a colorful terminal cutscene overwhelms the screen with a loud jumpscare. By accomplishing the matrix outro: Isolation permanently changes into an inverted state.

Inverted State

  • Key notable features of the new change include:
    • Killing Her with the Soulfire eidolon traps you in the room, and much like the eventual demise of the white void, a similar occurrence is expected.
      • She'll never forget about what you did to Her, so every time you return to the world afterward, the same thing will happen (but you can freely move around rooms).
    • The room originally surrounded by eyes northeast of the entrance is now surrounded by smiles, with the calm tune increased to a 150% tempo.
    • Triggering the event from the mannequin is the same, but one notable difference is the Trap ambiance increases to a 150% tempo.
    • A heartbeat, the same heard from the white void, constantly loops in the background.
    • The main haunting tune is reversed.

Trivia

  • The BGM for the eye room is referenced from the visual novel Kimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koi (or Totono). If you know, you know...
