Today I made a few donations to the main shinto shrine, and then was teleported here when I went under the third torii gate. Maybe donating has something to do with probability? At any rate, I don't think that getting teleported here is only possible by passing under the last torii gate.

Perhaps it's possible with all of them? I honestly don't remember why I only checked the last one, I'll get back on that.
OK, yeah, as it turns out it's possible with all of them, with the same probability. Since there are 7 gates, each with a 1/128 chance of teleporting you to the maple shrine, and the initial portal has a 1/15 chance, the math SHOULD work out such that there is an approximately 11.65% chance of being teleported to the Maple Shrine if you pass through all seven torii gates.
