As of v0.08, the game now features collectable Menu Themes which change the design of the menu frame, they can be changed at will from the Options menu in the real world.
Currently, there are 9 selectable menu themes in total, with 4 available from default and 5 unlockable ones that can be found scattered across the dream world. From these designs, one is exclusive to Totsutsuki and one is exclusive to Kubotsuki, but all other designs can be equipped freely by either character.
Below is a table listing each Menu Theme in order according to the computer menu, featuring a preview of the design and a short description of their unlock conditions:
Preview | Condition(s) | In-game |
Theme 0 | Unlockable by interacting with the TV in the Eye Maze section of Surreal Park.
Theme 1K | Default theme for Kubotsuki; This theme can't be equipped by Totsutsuki.
Theme 1T | Default theme for Totsutsuki; This theme can't be equipped by Kubotsuki.
Theme 2 | Unlocked by default.
Theme 3 | Unlocked by default.
Theme 4 | Unlocked by interacting with the flashing person in the deepest room of the dojo in PC98 World; This theme is also temporarily equipped while the player is in PC98 World.
Theme 5 | Unlocked by interacting with the Sunflower Fairy in Mutant Sunflower World.
Theme 6 | Unlocked by interacting with the bird on the rooftop of the Abandoned Shopping Mall.
Theme 7 | Unlocked by interacting with the brown crystal in the Water Palace. |
Trivia
- Menu themes 0, 1K and 1T were based of the early development idea of each character having their own specific menu theme (however, at the time said themes were free to use assets), the current designs were made with less differences between each other, as well as including a "neutral" menu theme for the title screen and introduction.
- Menu 0's unlock method used to be a requirement to find the Fast Forward effect.
- Menu themes 5 and 6 were originally designed after 001247's protagonist room designs.
