Symbolon is a small area accessible from a door in the Zodiac Fortress.

Map of Symbolon.

Features

Symbolon is a looping area, whose appearance comprises of monochromatic tribal designs all over the place. Web 2.0 icons are etched on the walls and floor, where symbols on the latter produce sound effects when trod on.

Entering from Zodiac Fortress brings you out of the back of one of the area's buildings. Going directly north from where you start off is a green portal that leads to Data Stream. East of this portal is a building with a door that leads to the Demoscene Tapestry Club.

Southwest from the entrance is a building that depicts an envelope on its facade. Entering the door on said building will take you to the isolated roof from The Rooftops, from where you can access the Polluted Swamp.

The world's color is determined by the second digit of the number of times Urotsuki has gone to sleep; meaning it will change every ten dream sessions. Upon first starting a new game it is white; then it will be blue, then green, then magenta, then yellow, then it will loop back to white.

Conway's Game of Life

In the door on the opposite side of the building you enter from, a room containing an instance of Conway's Game of Life can be found. Tiles in this room can be activated or deactivated by interacting with where you are standing.

Trivia

  • Prior to version 0.119f patch 2, the Conway's Game of Life subarea was only accessible via the Developer Room. In said update, the connection was moved to Symbolon and the area was given a new tileset to match.
