Surreal Zoo is an area accessible from Underwater Pipes.

Features

The first area of the zoo is a small room resembling a waiting room. Several stands advertising the zoo's creatures are scattered around the room and there are several chairs to sit on. At the right side of the room is a ticket booth and entrances to the zoo.

The zoo is surrounded by large patches of blue grass and a large brick wall circles the entire area. At the center are several exhibits housing many different creatures, with shadowy figures observing them. Several types of strange plants are also planted around the zoo and photo stand-ins depicting the zoo's creatures can be used.

The northwestern part of the zoo contains a concrete building embedded into the brick wall, blocked off by a construction barricade. Nearby, a shadowy figure resembling a young Minnatsuki can be found sitting on the ground, which will grant the Youth eidolon upon interaction. Equipping this new eidolon will completely change the appearance of the location, making it appear brighter and happier and changing all of the zoo's creatures to an alternate appearance. This will also change the music to be faster-paced and more energetic.

With the Youth eidolon equipped, several other new changes can be found around the zoo that can't be seen when it is unequipped. The photo stand-ins now depict the new creature's seen with the eidolon's effects and a Kurkkumopo station can be found closely east of the zoo's entrance. Interacting with the lone Kurkkumopo at the station will have Minnatsuki equip it, being able to ride around the zoo in it, although they cannot unequip the Youth eidolon until it is returned to its station.

Trivia

The eye-fish that were present in a previous version.

• The Kurkkumopo ("cucumber moped" in Finnish) station and pseudo-eidolon are based on a Finnish toy car of the same name from the 1970s.
• The deformed, crying NPC found within the pink enclosure near the egg-like creatures is inspired by the shape of "Big Ass Lake", a lake located in Canada.
• The grotesque bulgy-eyed horse NPC is a reference to a cryptid report from Britain in the Spring of 1966 where a British couple saw "a huge horse with a man's face and horrible bulging eyes".
• The fruit cat NPCs are based on an Arabic "strawberry morning" meme image featuring a cat made of strawberries.
• In previous versions, one of the enclosures contained several pairs of fish that resembled sets of eyes with eyebrows. They were removed in a later version, as they heavily resembled an entry depicting similar-looking fish in the book Codex Seraphinianus.
