The Black Cat is an NPC that appears on the Mall Rooftop.
Overview
The Black Cat resembles a thin pitch-black cat with two small red eyes and a waving tail. When Madotsuki enters the Mall Rooftop area, the Black Cat can be found there as the sole resident of the rooftop.
The Black Cat can be found in one of three positions on the rooftop. It is usually seen sitting atop the door well or on one of the air conditions, but there is a 1/64 chance it will be to the right of the doorway, sitting at a reachable height and allowing Madotsuki to interact with it. If interacted with, it makes a quiet meow sound similar to the one the Cat effect makes, albeit shorter. It does not move around, though it will begin grooming itself every twenty seconds unless the Knife effect is equipped. Equipping the Knife effect also turns its eyes from red to pink. Despite not moving normally, the action of the Cat effect makes it gravitate towards Madotsuki.
Trivia
- Black cats are often associated with witchcraft, which may be a subtle clue to use the Witch effect near the rooftop's edge to experience the Witch's Flight event.
- It has been speculated that the Black Cat is inspired by the witch partner cat Jiji in the Studio Ghibli animation Kiki's Delivery Service, likely due to its proximity to the Witch's Flight event.
