Kamakurako (かまくら子, "Igloo child", also known as Nemuko by some fans) is an NPC that can be found in one of the igloos in Snow World.
Overview
Kamakurako appears to be a small child with brown hair, a gray shirt, black bottoms, and blue shoes. She is found sitting on the ground in a fetal position, keeping her eyes closed and occasionally moving her head. A black letter "Z" appears from her, indicating she is asleep.
She appears in the bottom right igloo of the group of five near the center of Snow World. She does not do much other than sit in her igloo, though she will react to the Knife and Cat effects. Her reaction to the Knife effect is the same as most other NPCs: she will scream and slowly disappear. However, when the Cat effect is used, she will stop producing the letter "Z" and she will lean forward slightly, trembling as if disturbed by the noise.
Trivia
- Her name comes from "Kamakura", which references the Kamakura festivals of northern Japan where children play inside little snow huts. However, it is also used in Japan as a generic word for "igloo" since Japanese does not actually have a word for "igloo" (other than the English loanword).
Theories
Little can be said about Kamakurako due to the limited action she provides. It's possible that she has a fear of cats considering the sound Madotsuki makes while using the Cat effect is the only thing that appears to peacefully make her react, though it's likely that the noise from the effect simply woke her up.
It is also possible that Kamakurako is a younger version of Madotsuki. The similarities between the two are apparent when Madotsuki equips the Long Hair effect and sits down, causing her to slightly resemble Kamakurako when she eventually rests her head in this state. Her resemblance to Madotsuki and constant sleeping state may also be a sort of self-awareness during Madotsuki's dreams, reminding her that she is asleep. This may be similar to how the Paracas-inspired dream beings, such as the background of Eyeball World, function.
