Obentou World is an area accessible from the Teleport Rune in the Nightshade Corridor in Astral World.

Map of Obentou World.

Features

This area is littered with what may appear, at a first glance, to be sand, but is more likely vomited rice, as it is seen from foaming out of the mouths of the local dream denizens here. These are huge, bloated, blue creatures with distinctive red, moving eyes. They are curled up in agony, as if suffering from food poison or overeating. Bento boxes and tipped over bowls of spoiled rice can also be found laying on the ground. There are also several fences laid about, like those found in Astral World or Fish World.

A large, cartoonish mouth can be seen in the background, with a pale yellow liquid foaming out of it.

An oversized blue and red ribbon can be found here, which transports you to a passage of chopsticks, and leads to the Crystal Star Tower. Southeast of the aforementioned ribbon, there is a fish-shaped portal, which leads to Fish World upon interaction.

Trivia

  • The background music in this world is actually made up of three separate tracks, all featuring phrases repeatedly said by monotone Japanese text-to-speech software: The actual background music track (the lowest and slowest voice) says "お昼ご飯" (ohirugohan), meaning "lunch". The first looped sound effect (middle-pitched voice) says "おべんとう" (obentou), which refers to bento--presumably the ones featured prominently in the world itself. The second looped sound effect (highest-pitched voice) says "おにぎり" (onigiri), possibly referring to the rice strewn about the world's confines.
