Untamed Forest is an area accessible from the tree archway in Crimson Lake.
Features
Untamed Forest is a spirit world wherein dirt paths wind through a dark, hazy woods filled with gnarled trees. It occupies a rectangular area that is surrounded by sheer cliffs on all sides, though the map loops north-to-south via a narrow path through these cliffs. There is an open connection sign at the north end of the map, just south of the path through the cliffs. Additionally, there are three hollowed-out trees throughout the world that can be entered; two are empty, while the tree in the southwest corner of the map contains an open connection sign.
Near the center of the map is another large tree that appears to be scarred, revealing a tangled mess of flesh inside of it. Interacting with tree will play a cutscene wherein this tree - as well as all of the other trees in the map - are revealed to have eyes; a large hand will reach out of the tree, grab Minnatsuki, and pull them inside, taking them to Flesh Pit. This connection is one-way, and it is not possible to return to Untamed Forest from Flesh Pit.
Interacting with any of the smaller trees throughout the forest will play a strange, low groaning sound.
Tree Attack
Equipping the Soulfire eidolon at any point while in Untamed Forest will redden the screen and cause all of the trees in the forest to open their eyes. Any individual tree can be torched with Soulfire, which immediately begins the Tree Attack event, wherein every tree in the forest will begin to chase down Minnatsuki. Being caught by a tree during this event will black out the screen and play a guttural crushing sound before Minnatsuki is forced out of the spirit realm and returned to their room. The same will occur if the Flesh Pit tree is interacted with, albeit after playing through the cutscene as normal. If Untamed Forest is escaped by any means during this event, the trees will continue to be hostile when re-entering for the rest of the current trip to the spirit realm.
