Madotsuki's Ghost is a translucent version of Madotsuki which can be found in the center of Mini Hell, which is similar to the giant red maze; Hell. From the Number World, go through the door at the far left into the room full of beds and cupboards. Go down until you see a Toriningen and stab her with the knife, turning her hostile. Quickly go to the left towards the row of cupboards and go into the third cupboard from the left. This will transport you to a different, smaller version of Hell which is much less confusing. Madotsuki's Ghost will be standing in the center of the map. If you have the Stoplight effect, then you can also freeze the Toriningen in place after stabbing her, to give you a bit more time.

Madotsuki's Ghost (透明な窓付き, Tōmei na Madotsuki, "Transparent Madotsuki") is a translucent version of Madotsuki found in the center of Mini Hell.

Overview

As seen in-game.

Madotsuki's Ghost is a semi-transparent version of Madotsuki, reusing her standing sprites but with her colors in grayscale. She can be passed through and can only be interacted with by using the Cat effect, which simply drags her towards Madotsuki like most other NPCs. The ghost often turns to face the direction the real Madotsuki is in.

Location

In Number World, there is a door at the far left of the entrance from the Nexus. Going through the door will lead to The Bed Room, which has a single Toriningen located south of the room's entrance. Going towards the Toriningen and using the Knife effect on it will make turn it into its lunatic state, making it hostile.

After making the Toriningen hostile, if Madotsuki quickly goes to the left towards the row of closets and enters the third closet from the left, she will be transported to a different, smaller version of Hell which is much less maze-like. Madotsuki's Ghost stands in the center of the map.

If the player has the Stoplight effect, they are able to freeze the hostile Toriningen in place after stabbing them, making the dash for the closet less risky. The player can also use the Bicycle effect to easily outrun the lunatic Toriningen.

The character facing the player.

Trivia

  • In the game's files, there is a full set of graphics for Madotsuki with a grayscale filter over her. The standing sprites are used for Madotsuki's Ghost, but the walking animation is never seen. In version 0.07 cheek pinch sprites were added, but then replaced with the cheek pinch sprites for the Triangle Kerchief's transparent form in version 0.10. A FaceSet icon (used for the menu and save files) of the greyscale Madotsuki has also existed in the game since version 0.04.
    • The greyscale sprites may have been intended to be used when Madotsuki entered the White Desert, as the sprites lack FC World variants, possibly ruling out the possibility of it being an effect. However, the sprites were present since version 0.04, while the White Desert was added much later in version 0.07. This would also suggest that effects would not be possible to equip in the White Desert, which is unlikely considering the events that require effects to be used.
    • Another possibility is it being an earlier form of the Triangle Kerchief's transparent graphics. The greyscale sprites were always paired with that of the normal Triangle Kerchief, and the cheek pinch graphics of the greyscale Madotsuki were eventually replaced with the transparent version of said effect. However, it is unlikely to be the case considering it is missing the kerchief itself. It is also separated from the Triangle Kerchief within the FaceSet file.
    • A third and final possibility is that it was a separate effect entirely that went unused, but this does not explain why there is no FC World variant.
