Sabitsuki's Room is the room where Sabitsuki resides in .flow. The game both begins and ends here, and virtually all of the gameplay technically takes place inside this room. Sabitsuki's room and her Veranda are the only two locations Sabitsuki can access while in reality.
Features
Sabitsuki's room is small, dreary, and primarily gray.
The primary features of the room are the bed, which allows Sabitsuki to save her progress, and her computer, which allows her to enter flow. She can also turn her television on and off, although there is no signal. There is additionally an orange console on the floor which enables her to play Shinsoku Neko. Sabitsuki will refuse to leave her room until all effects have been collected, and doing so will trigger one of the game's endings depending on progress.
Sabitsuki's Veranda is located through the south door. It has virtually nothing of note on it.
When entering flow, Sabitsuki is transported to her dream Veranda, which is similarly unnoteworthy, with the only option being to head north into her dream room. Her dream room is largely identical to her normal room; the only two differences are the console, which is now missing, and her pink cat cushion, which is now moved up to be adjacent to the television. Her dream bed cannot be used to save progress, and she cannot initially use her dream computer. When turning the television in her dream room on, there is a chance that a disembodied smile will be depicted on screen. If this occurs, Sabitsuki will be unable to turn her television off for the remainder of that flow session, as attempting will only make it laugh at her.
Sabitsuki can leave her dream room through the door, leading to the Entrance.
Spoilers:
After collecting all 24 effects, Sabitsuki will be able to use her dream computer. Interacting with it will allow her to discard all of her effects and become Rust, changing much of her dream world and, critically, allowing her access to three locations that she was unable to access as Sabitsuki.
After becoming Rust, Sabitsuki's dream room will change once again: her computer and desk will be completely absent. After collecting all three of the Empty Boxes, her dream room will change for the final time, an elevator appearing on the wall where the computer once was. Interacting with this elevator and riding it down will take Rust to the Rust Corridor, the game's finale.
Spoilers end here.Erosion
Sabitsuki's real room will slowly change throughout the course of the game depending on the Erosion Counter. The counter will generally increase after witnessing disturbing events and will also increase a small amount if caught by hostile Kaibutsu or Fetuses.
- At 50 erosion, a blood spatter will appear a few steps south of her computer.
- At 100 erosion, a blood pool will appear almost directly next to her computer chair.
- At 150 erosion, blood will appear to be smeared on the wall next to her television.
- At 180 erosion, strange boxes with red wiring will appear on both sides of her computer.
- At 200 erosion, even more specks of blood will appear on the walls of her room, including next to her door.
Additionally, her computer keyboard will be encrusted with blood if the Blood, Pus, and Rust event has been witnessed at least once in the Sewers.
Lowering the Erosion Counter will slowly clean the blood in her room, with the exception of the bloodied keyboard, which is permanent.
Trivia
- Curiously, Sabitsuki's normal room is internally referred to as "自室", roughly meaning "(Sabitsuki's) own room". Her dream room in comparison is actually referred to as "マイルーム", or literally "My room".
- The Debug Room's entrance is present in Sabitsuki's real room. It is placed inside the wall to the right of the door and can only be accessed by either editing the files, or using a noclip glitch to clip inside the wall.
- The name "Shinsoku Neko" may have been selected as a pun on "Shinshoku" (侵食), meaning erosion.
