Shield-Folk World (猫耳, Cat Ear) is one of the twelve original locations accessible directly from the Nexus.

Features

This world is named after the Shield-Folk that inhabit it, fluorescent decorative characters that cannot be interacted with, even with effects. The Shield-Folk can be seen standing alone or in groups around the world, and can even act as landmarks to help with navigation. The floor is also dotted with strange moving lights that resemble eyes, which make sounds when stepped on, similar to the tiles in Graffiti World. The music consists of what sounds like a xylophone being played, creating a sense of wonder as the player explores the world.

The only NPC found in this world that is not a Shield-Folk is the spinning Nekoin, a pink coin-like cat that will give the Cat effect upon interaction. Its quick movement can make it difficult to catch as it weaves through some of the lines of Shield-Folk. Another notable feature of this world is a black gate near the center of the world, surrounded by eye-like tiles. Going through the gate will lead to the Static Maze.

The world's parallax background resembles some sort of monkey-like Mesoamerican creature, similar to the Aztec Rave Monkey in the backgrounds of Forest World and Block World.

Trivia

  • In older versions of the game, there was an additional gate present that led to the Checkered Tile Path, which would be moved to other locations later on. Interestingly, the location shared its music with that of Shield-Folk World in these previous versions.
