The Henkei Shita are a group of large, decorative characters that appear in The Footprint Path and Hell.

Overview

The Henkei Shita come in a variety of colors, which can be seen when first entering the The Footprint Path from Eyeball World. They can not be reached and do not seem to react to any effects. There is another one found in Hell who has a 1 in 256 chance of teleporting Madotsuki to the Footprint Path alongside the other Henkei Shita when stabbed with the Knife effect.

Theories

Henkei Shita largely resemble a beheaded pregnant woman. This could possibly be connected to Takofuusen, who greatly resembles the symptoms of a birth defect known as "TRAP sequence". The placement of the Henkei Shita's mouths may also resemble a Cesarean section, a surgical procedure performed to deliver babies through incisions in the abdomen and uterus, which may bring to mind other body imagery seen heavily throughout the game. They may also be related to the Severed Heads, one of which is a woman's head.

Instead of being pregnant, they could also be interpreted as being fat. This could connect to the Fat effect and other themes of body dysphoria and identity in the game. It should also be noted that the Fat effect was originally obtained in Hell, where a single Henkei Shita resides.
