Data Stream is an area accessible from the green portal in Symbolon.

Features

Data Stream is a digital environment consisting of teleportation devices, where the outlines of the walls cascade periodically. Equipping the Lantern effect will make the outlines more visible. As you explore the area, your menu theme will take on an appearance similar to the area's environment.

In between the two portals from the entrance is a circularly-arranged set of buttons, as well as a vaguely-visible box, whose outline becomes dotted with the Glasses equipped. Using the Polygon effect will make the box above the buttons visible and interactable. Interacting with the box at that state will show a number above it, which is a hint to the number of times that one must press the nearby rods. Pressing said rods will make a Polygon effect sound, likely as a hint.

The puzzle can still be solved without obtaining either of these effects, however, as the blocks in their unaltered state will play morse code when interacted with that signifies the number of buttons to press from 1-7. A static beep can be interpreted as a dit when there is another beep played immediately after it, and as a dash where there is a pause after the sound. While this sequence is currently playing, the background music will fade out to a halt and resume as soon as the last beep finishes.

Once this puzzle is completed, an extra teleporter will appear in the area where the solution of the puzzle is indicated by the highest number. Interacting with this teleporter will lead to a vertical corridor with a narrow passage at the south, blocked by a block, and a door at the north leading to the green variant of the Binary World, acting as a one-way after pressing a button.

The puzzle does not need to be solved on subsequent visits, which makes the connection to the Binary World easier to access. After arriving from Symbolon, use the top right teleporter and continue north to reach a teleporter to the button that leads to the Binary World.

From the Symbolon entrance, heading to the eastern teleporter, then taking the teleporters immediately left of where you would end up in, you will find yourself in an isolated section with two teleporters above and below you. Taking the one below leads to the top section of the three-tiered area. Northeast from here is a secret staircase which Urotsuki will automatically climb, which then leads to a room with Urotsuki's outline. Interacting with it will yield a scene where the area will dim out, with the outline pulsating in color, gradually filling up. This gives you the Menu Theme #34 and System Sounds #4, the menu theme and system sounds used in this area.

Trivia

  • Before version 0.118 patch 3, solving the puzzle would unlock a connection with the Prismatic Tent in Clawtree Forest.
  • In older iterations of this area, solving the puzzle and then finding your way back to the Symbolon would unlock the block at the final room of the area, which would lead to an apparent dead end. Interacting with the northern wall would make the walls on the sides materialize before taking you to the green version of the Binary World. At that point, teleporters would appear across all parts of Data Stream upon revisiting. Later, the condition for unlocking this connection was changed to just entering Clawtree Forest from this area, but since that connection was removed, it became impossible to access the Binary World from here until version 0.120f, when the Binary World connection was re-added in the hallway area of the complete puzzle area.
    • However, using a savefile where the player already accessed Clawtree Forest from this area before the connection's removal would unlock the connection to the Binary World.
