The False Guardians' Trials are a set of areas accessible from Sound Saws World, Butter Rain World, Cipher Fog World, and Sherbet Snowfield.

Features

The trials are composed of four separate areas composed of grey floating platforms with a backdrop of falling human figures. Each area is accessed from one of the different four worlds mentioned above, and each corresponds to a guardian and a cardinal direction. The trial of Inanim is reached from Butter Rain World and corresponds to South. The trial of Isagih is reached from Cipher Fog World and corresponds to East. The trial of Atik is reached from Sherbet Snowfield and corresponds to North. The trial of Isin is reached from Sound Saws World and corresponds to West.

Upon entering each area, the player will be stripped of their effects and prevented from equipping any until they exit. They will be faced with a platforming path ahead of them, made out of disconnected platforms. The platforms' smallest gaps can be jumped over vertically, but not horizontally. The platforms are covered in a special type of Wireframe Robot resembling the White Eyes from Geometry World's sub-area. These chasers will teleport the player back to the world they came from on impact. Upon getting to the end of this path, the player will find themselves in front of 4 symbols similar to the one used to enter the Trials, each one corresponding to a cardinal direction. Interacting with any direction other than the one corresponding to the area's designated direction will teleport the player to an isolated area of the Trials. Interacting with the proper symbol (which can be easily known from the floor tile in the middle of this room) will take the player to the corresponding Guardian.

The Guardians' room has a background depicting the four False Guardians in an abstract way, and the corresponding Guardian will stand in the middle of the room, blocking the way. Equipping effects becomes possible again, allowing the player to equip the chainsaw and attack the Guardian. Doing so will show the player that one of the lights on the cardinal symbol in Layer 6 of the Sixth Terminal has turned on. The Guardian will then become incorporeal and transparent, allowing the player to proceed forward and exit back to the world they came from. Doing so with all four Guardians will unlock an isolated area of the Trials accessible from Layer 6 of the Sixth Terminal, as well as the secret Layers 7 and 8.

The isolated room accessible from the Sixth Terminal consists of a small path leading to a shadow version of Urotsuki with the Stretch effect, kneeling while surrounded by the incorporeal form of all four False Guardians. Approaching the shadow will make the four ghosts disappear and the shadow will get up. Interacting with her will grant the player Menu Theme 57. Future visits to this area will have a Pink Puni instead of the shadow, who will grant the player 1000夢 upon interaction. This can only be done once per dream.

Trivia

  • The four False Guardians' names come from a Tweet by this world's creator maptsuki, with each of the Guardians' names being written in cipher.
    • The Guardians' names seem to be reversed versions of the rōmaji names for the four cardinal directions. Minami, Higasi, Kita and Nisi correspond to South, East, North, and West, respectively.
