The Paper Jungle is an area accessible from the Docks in Toxicology Research Facility.
Features
Paper Jungle consists of a linear set of areas, starting from a beach leading through a forest to a village. All the objects and NPCs in this area are made out of paper drawings, and by extension, can be burned by using the Lantern effect.
From the Toxicology Research Facility's Docks, Urotsuki starts in the beach area, near the girl from said area. The beach is inhabited by sharks and square-shaped crabs, both of which will move slightly more faster if the Polygon effect is equipped. Interacting with the girl while she's fishing will make her start roaming the area, and interacting with her during this state sends you back to the Toxicology Research Facility.
Continuing east leads to the jungle maze area, which houses multiple floating seed NPCs. Equipping the Lantern effect will make them put a sad face, the Polygon effect makes them put a happy face while approaching Urotsuki. The end of the maze leads Urotsuki to the village.
The village area consists of various log houses connected via a stone path. The area is populated by walking seed NPCs, along with bean sprout-shaped persons that inhabit the houses. The walking seeds will run away from Urotsuki with an angry face if the Lantern effect is equipped. The bean sprouts make trombone sounds, if the Trombone effect is equipped they will approach Urotsuki and make the same sound on a higher note. Equipping the Lantern effect makes them look left and right quickly.
One of the houses is a bar managed by a multicolored, nine-tailed foxgirl that sells you food for 398夢. The goods sold range between sparkling bottles, udons, rainbow triangular flasks, and glowing leaves. The foxgirl's appearance and the food served changes depending on what effects are currently equipped:
- Fairy, Trombone: Turns into a dripping one-eyed circle and sells sparkling bottles with the Fairy effect.
- Rainbow: Turns into a face and sells triangular flasks.
- Marginal, Grave, Eyeball Bomb, Insect: Turns into a one-eyed monster and sells glowing leaves.
- Wolf, Bunny Ears: Turns into a fish and sells udons.
- Lantern: Spins in place, burning her gives you 33夢.
- Chainsaw: When chainsawed, turns Urotsuki into a Salmon.
Heading to the northern path on the village leads to a small area with tiny seed NPCs and walking seeds surrounding a shark statue. A floating creature can be found here that leads to the Paper Ruins. If the Lantern effect is equipped, the walking seeds and small seed NPCs will stop in place, and the floating creature will quickly run away. The small seed NPCs seem to dislike loud noises, as using the Fairy and Dice effects makes them stop in place makes and put a sad face, and the Wolf and Telephone effects makes them put an angry face. The Insect effect does the same but with a happy face.
Using the Penguin effect in the path between the village and its northern area you can find a hidden shark statue that is enclosing multiple fast moving crabs. You can reduce their speed by equipping the Lantern, Polygon and Chainsaw effects.
