Please note that as this game is a work-in-progress, info on this page may be out of date and may change at any time.

Effects are items scattered throughout both characters' dream worlds that can be collected. Each effect alters the characters' appearance in some way, and some have special abilities that can make exploring the dream worlds easier or access things you wouldn't be able to see otherwise. Other effects may be purely cosmetic and have no actual use.

As of v0.08, the game has 28 effects in total, 14 for each character.

This page lists all the effects for each character, what they do, and where to locate them.

Trivia

  • In ver0.02, the version in which the effect was added, the Snowglobe effect used to work as a weapon, breaking the frozen NPCs on interaction, said function was removed in ver0.03 and then fully replaced by the Pencil effect in ver0.06.
  • In ver0.02, the version in which both effects were added, the Boombox and Music Box effects would let the player enter a music player as their special functions. This was moved to the protagonists' computers in ver0.03 due to the occasional bugs it caused and then fully removed in ver0.04, though a proper Music Room was later introduced in ver0.08.
  • The full code displayed by the Cyber effect is 11100101 10000111 10111000, which is the binary for the kanji 凸.
  • Certain effects have special wake up animations (as opposed to the usual cheek pinch): The Wither effect has Kubotsuki accidentally pull his head off, and the Teapot effect has Kubotsuki accidentally crack himself when trying to pinch his cheek.
  • Between its implementation in ver0.06 and 001247's content removal in ver0.08, the Pencil effect was accessible from both the Butterfly Forest and Trashy Alleyway, being the first effect in the game to be accessible from two separate worlds.
  • Prior to ver0.08, obtaining the Fast Forward effect was slightly more convoluted as it also required interacting with a TV in the Eye Maze section of the Surreal Park. This interaction now unlocks Menu Theme 0.
  • Prior to being moved to the Cinema Cliff section of the Surreal Park, the Fast Forward effect used to be accessible after completing the Dark Hearl Watchparty event in the now removed Surreal Apartment. With the conditions to obtain the effect previously including having to turn off the TV in the Eye Maze, this makes the Fast Forward the effect whose requirements have changed the most through the game's development (as of v0.08).
