Shimako is a recurring NPC in qxy's work.
Interaction
Shimako makes appearances in several of qxy's worlds, starting from Adabana Gardens. With each subsequent appearance, she appears to grow older, eventually reaching adulthood by the time the player reaches Rainy Apartments.
She is first seen briefly in an unreachable area of Adabana Gardens as a child carrying a red schoolbag as she walks off-screen. She is seen again albeit without her schoolbag and with closed eyes in Field of Cosmos, likely indicating that she has grown older, but is just as quick to vanish from sight.
In Reflecting Electron Zone however, Shimako is initially invisible until the player uses the Crossing effect, revealing her physical appearance--here, she appears older, likely as an adolescent or college-aged young adult. She is seen with a stack of red, green, and blue books balanced on her head, which the player may take from her, making her impossible to locate without using Crossing. If the player has taken a hat from Home Within Nowhere, they may swap it for her books.
Shimako makes her final appearance in Rainy Apartments as a fragmented, perhaps ghostly figure, where she may be found at the balcony as an adult, smoking a cigarette.
Appearance
Shimako is an average-looking girl with long, dark hair, black eyes, and a fair complexion. She wears a black & white striped t-shirt or tank top, and a black skirt with red detailing. As an adolescent or young adult, she appears to be wearing red earrings.

Trivia
- There exists an unused sprite of what is likely Shimako's corpse with blood splattered around the head. This was most likely intended to be used for Rainy Apartments.
- Shimako's behavior in Reflecting Electron Zone is likely a reference to that of Mafurako of the original Yume Nikki.
- It is implied that the Home Within Nowhere is where Shimako lives or has lived in, as indicated by her belongings being present in the bedroom, where one may see her striped shirt and red schoolbag.
