Garden World is one of the main areas accessible from The Nexus.

Features

Garden World is a somewhat spartan area with a sort of day/night mechanic. When entered from The Nexus, the area is in 'night' mode and features a dark blue color scheme. Green plant buds and small flying insects decorate the landscape, and the Bike effect can be obtained. Numerous lavender brick structures can be found here and there; three of these have keyholes in them and can be entered. Near the series of brick towers is a door leading to the Snowy Apartments.

In addition, entering and exiting an oblong ring of plant buds near one of said keyhole structures will seamlessly teleport you to an area with a long diagonal chainlink-fenced path. At the bottom of the path is a hole that connects to the Blue Forest as well as a path leading from the Purple World, which is one-way and can only be accessed from behind. Also, equipping the Penguin effect and sliding near the hole to the Blue Forest will briefly call the attention of a shifty mole-looking thing.

In the widest building northwest of the entrance, the left door will lead to the Art Gallery if it is the first day of in-game winter, the second day of spring, or the third day of summer. The right door will lead to The Hand Hub if it is the third day of winter, the first day of summer, or the second day of autumn.

In either version of the area, a dark spot in a second, smaller ring of plants will toggle between day and night. The basic layout of the area remains unchanged when this happens, but the interiors of the lavender brick buildings change, as well as a number of smaller things.

During the bright orange colored 'daytime,' The Nexus entrance is missing and the Bike effect is replaced by a table. The numerous flying insects seem to be dormant and the chainlink fence path is inaccessible, although the ring of plants is still there. The lavender buildings now contain little green creatures that bark when interacted with, as well as passageways to other places; the larger building contains a painting that leads to the Green Monster Party, a small, looping area filled with green barking creatures, while the two smaller buildings' interiors' doors will actually open when interacted with and lead to the Hospital.

Directly north of the day/night switch is one of the small buildings. While in daytime, interacting with the keyhole brings you to a room with a painting of a blue field, and interacting with it leads to a room containing a dog in a suit and a purple creature on the table. Interacting with the dog in a suit allows you to enter Inu-san's Psyche.

Still in daytime, southwest of the day/night switch in the middle of a bunch of plants, there is a 50% chance that if the day/times slept counter is odd before going to bed (as shown on the PC when saving or checking the game record) that the green magic door leading to Board Game Islands will magically appear. This will appear with certainty if the coloring book in the Library shows a green pear. To open the door, you need to have the Child in your inventory, otherwise the door will not open. Once opened, enter quickly before it disappears. If it is not entered in-time, it will be gone for the remainder of the dream session.

By going directly west from the entrance during 'nighttime', you will find something that looks like a blue hand sticking out of a hole in the ground. Interacting with this object will lead to Blue Sanctuary.

During the nighttime version, northeast of the entrance and west of the Bike effect is a group of buildings, one with a keyhole. Inside is a painting of the Polygon effect NPC, which serves as a hint to use the effect. When the Polygon effect is used, the room will rotate, revealing a door that will lead to Orange Forest with no direct means of returning.

Directions

  • The Nexus → Garden World

Trivia

  • Many sprites in this world, including the tufts of grass, exterior and interior of the buildings, resemble ones in Earthbound. This also applies with the trees in the chainlink path and Blue Forest.
  • If a chaser traps you in an isolated area of the forest near the chainlink fence path, you can use the Chainsaw to reveal a secret path through the trees that exits out to near the gate area.
  • The flying insects seen in this area are near-identical to the ones seen in a minigame in WarioWare: Twisted!, called PYORO R, where the player must fend off their garden from flying insects.
  • If the Fairy, Haniwa (and gingerbread cookie), Grave (while active), or Dice effect is equipped, Urotsuki will be unable to open the door to the Snowy Apartments, instead knocking on it.
