This page is missing information. You can help YumeWiki by expanding it. Details: Document any special conditions, related or unrelated to Var#44, for the elevator, as it seems to open in cases other than the Var#44 formula described below. Also, in that case, the door seems to not be present in the hallway past the elevator. |

Wooded Lakeside is an area accessible from the left exit of Red Sewers.
Features
Wooded Lakeside is a dark, eerie forested area featuring a river and underground pipes filled with red liquid and segmented boardwalks. It bears resemblance to Yume Nikki's Witch's Island and Dense Woods B areas.
Wooded Lakeside A
The entrance from Red Sewers features a gate surrounded by cones, followed by a path alongside a red river and many trees. The path eventually splits, leading either up or left. Continuing left from the fork in the path will lead to another split, where the player has the option to go up or continue even farther left. Ignoring both forks in the path and heading all the way left will lead to a large red creature called the Nose Drinker with its nose dipped in the red liquid beside the trail. Using the Chainsaw effect on its foot will create a deep cut, and continuously chainsawing it afterward has a chance to send Urotsuki to an isolated section of the woods with a bloody tree stump and several dilapidated Sierpinski triangle structures. Chainsawing the bloody tree stump will allow Urotsuki to go back to the Nose Drinker.
Going up at either of the path forks will bring the player to a path with red liquid running through underground pipes and a large wheel that lie before a dense forest maze. Northwest is a colorful set of legs sticking up from a small body of water within the forest. Adjacent to this is a barren tree that has a chance to bear a witch hat, which can be worn when interacted with. A boat can be found in the eastern part of the maze, which can be boarded and exited at any of the boardwalks. Near the top of the area is a long boardwalk that brings Urotsuki to a dark forest filled with bulbous trees, which can be made more visible with the Lantern effect. At the end of the dark woods is a broken-down traincar. After riding the traincar and remaining still for a brief period, Urotsuki will eventually fall asleep. Upon waking up with the interact key, the sky will have turned to dusk and leaving will bring you to Oblique Hell. This connection is one-way.
Note: the simplest way to navigate the lakeside is to enter the first northern path you see from Red Sewers, then head north until you cross a tiny bridge. Then, head east at the fork in the path, going over another tiny bridge, and head slightly south to find a boat. Take the boat southeast to a pair of docks. Use the tiny dock above, then follow the path to the train.
If the player has used the Chainsaw effect once on at least two of the red creatures located in Wooded Lakeside A, Wooded Lakeside B, or Kaleidoscope World (without using the Eyeball Bomb effect), falling asleep will instead take Urotsuki to a rooftop at sunset. There is not much to do here, and leaving under the overhang will take Urotsuki back to the traincar having arrived in Oblique Hell.
If the player has fallen asleep on the nighttime traincar accessed from the First-Person Maze section in Oblique Hell, they will be taken to the same broken-down traincar, now in Wooded Lakeside. However, they will now be able to exit to the left of the traincar. Exiting here will lead to another dark woods section with strange trees. At the end of this darkened section, a few boardwalks with a pergola can be found alongside another boat that can be used to traverse the water. If the boat is used to backtrack to the darkened woods section, the player can access an isolated part of the forest featuring an open sewer tunnel, blocked off by construction railing that possibly hints at a future connection. If the player instead takes the boat to the far eastern side of the area, an island with two jizō can be found, similar to the ones found in the Field of Cosmos, though they are inaccessible.
Wooded Lakeside B
When entered from Oblique Hell, Urotsuki will end up in the Gnarled Tree Plaza section of Wooded Lakeside B, an area with many twisted trees surrounded by blue and pink tiles, overall resembling the Face Carpet Plaza from Yume Nikki. Shimako appears in this area, chasing the player with a wide-brimmed hat on her head. If she catches the player, she will put the hat on the player's head and begin to run away. If an effect is equipped after she has placed the hat on the player's head, she will simply disappear. Also inside of the Gnarled Tree Plaza are two sets of red gates present on the top and bottom of the area, which can be exited to be taken to the Wooded Lakeside B proper.
The area largely resembles its A counterpart, albeit it has a darker hue and it also rains. Going south from the Gnarled Tree Plaza gate will eventually lead to a bridge atop a dam with several cones and streetlights. At the very east side of the bridge is a blocked pathway that can be bypassed with the Fairy effect and a set of stairs that leads to several metallic platforms. By shortly climbing down a ladder to get to the lowest platform, the player can head either left or right.
Heading left on the lowest platform of the dam's walkways will lead to another interior section with an elevator to a room with a vending machine, either a hat stand or a traffic cone (the former if Home Within Nowhere was visited prior to arrival, the latter if not), and a door leading to a dark boiler room. The hat stand can be used to store a single hat, which will subsequently be found again in Home Within Nowhere in future visits. Upon equipping the Lantern effect to light up the boiler room, a large red creature will be revealed, drinking the boiler room's water with several cords attached to its body. Using the Chainsaw effect on one of the cords will cause the area to go dark again, and once lit up again, will reveal a trail of blood across the boiler room water. With or without using the Chainsaw, the area the trail can appear on can be walked on, though it will require pressing the Interaction/Examine key first if the creature was spared.
Continuing east on the aforementioned trail will lead to a dark void with lily pads resembling the ones in Lamplit Stones, Sierpinski triangle structures, and, if a route involving a visit to Home Within Nowhere was taken beforehand, Shimako, standing with her back to Urotsuki. If the player uses the Telephone effect while around Shimako, she will look around nervously. Walking east in front of one of the pyramid structures that would be just before Shimako's location, Urotsuki will suddenly fall, triggering the Shimako's Deluge event, where she will end up in an endlessly looping reservoir of water. The only way to escape this area is by either drowning or pinching Urotsuki awake. Depending on the route taken to reach the area, the event will either end the dream session and send Urotsuki back to her bedroom, or will take her to Home Within Nowhere, directly in front of the bathroom door. Taking the door in the east hallway leads back to a transitional hallway with a door to Bubble World.
Heading right on the lowest platform of the dam's walkways reveals a door that has an interior area with an elevator and a staircase that leads to another outdoor section of Wooded Lakeside B, emerging from a stone structure. This outdoor section contains a single frog hopping around and an open manhole leading to the First-Person Maze area of Oblique Hell.
The elevator, inside the stone structure south of the frog area, usually will not open unless the current value of Variable #44 is >127 and ends in 8. If these conditions are met, the elevator leads to a hallway. Here, a doorway can be found (if the Variable #44 conditions described have been met) as well as stairs leading back to the outdoor section. Entering through the door leads outside to a lower part of the dam which is otherwise inaccessible. The walls of the dam are plastered with no-entry signs and cones obstruct the path. Navigating all the way to the left here leads to a drop-off point. Interacting with the edge causes Urotsuki to jump, leading to the water section of the Shimako's Deluge event, but instead of eventually returning the player to Home Within Nowhere, it causes the player to wake up.

Trivia
- The hat given to you by Shimako in Gnarled Tree Plaza resembles and most likely belongs to that of a Shadow Lady, as the wearer appears to exhibit Chaser-like behavior; Shimako voluntarily approaches the player just as a hostile Shadow Lady would (said hat also appears in an area based on Face Carpet Plaza from Yume Nikki, where chasers are present), but flees once Urotsuki has it equipped.
- Curiously, the internal name for the hidden sunset rooftop area refers to the area as a hospital.
