The Swamp of Remembrance is a set of areas accessible from Sunset Hill.

Map of the Swamp of Remembrance.
Map of the Deeper Marsh.

Features

This area appears to be quite bleak at first, with sparse trees, stones, and waving blue flowers being the only objects populating the landscape. The background is very bright and gloomy in comparison, and the world is very open to explore. Wandering around the surface, one may come across a set of pillars directly southeast from the entrance, which when walked through lead into this area's other half: the Deeper Marsh.

Deeper Marsh

After walking through the entrance to the area, one will arrive on a much darker island surrounded by pale hands which reach out of the water, being one of the area's main features. Within this section, the light level constantly fluctuates and dims, and the texture of the island constantly shifts downwards and to the right.

Heading down through the torii gate to the south, one can follow a winding passage with the waters now being dotted with partially-submerged blades and a gigantic knife blade, that leads to a blanched arm. Upon interacting with one of these, Urotsuki will be transported from island to island as the arm emits a strange sound akin to mocking laughter.

Continuing to the next island, one can follow a spiral path on the right to reach a lone boy sitting at the center of it. From this point in the marsh on, red spider lily flowers can also be found growing out of the water around the islands, and become another key feature of the landscape.

If one follows the main linear path amongst the islands, they will eventually end up at a passage leading up to a lone gravestone. This will take Urotsuki to the same memorial in Moonlit Street when interacted with, where she can no longer return from.

Trivia

  • At the end of the first island, the land appears to be vaguely in the shape of a red spider lily, much like those seen on later islands.
    • In addition, red spider lilies are meant to represent death in flower symbolism, further supporting the area being a final resting place.
