Somber Waterfront is an area accessible from a corridor in Ruby Forest.

Features

Somber Waterfront is a foggy area surrounded by water, which loops horizontally. Upon arriving from Ruby Forest, the player will find themselves on a frozen path in the lowest row of four, each row being populated by small enterable buildings. Heading to the right on this first row leads to the building containing the creature that connects to Pen Passage. Entering the main area of Somber Waterfront removes the cone that would be present if you arrived from Pen Passage.

The player can take vertical paths to reach the next rows. The second row from the bottom has a door leading to the creature that connects to Loquat Orchard. Like the Pen Passage connection, the main area of Somber Waterfront must be visited once to remove the cone that blocks the room's exit.

The rest of the buildings each contain a small room with a construction sign and unique NPC, indicating that many connections will be available in the future. The NPCs will make different sounds upon interaction. Two of the rooms have different music, and both contain a moving NPC wearing a white cloak. One of them seems to be a water droplet, and the other seems to be made of flame. The water NPC likes the Teru Teru Bōzu effect, and the fire NPC enjoys the Lantern effect.

On the highest row, the path also diverges upwards to a much wider, paved path with the ghost-like NPC from Pen Passage roaming around, making an ethereal sound upon interaction. The path ends at a larger building with a construction sign blocking the doorway, indicating that there will be a continuation or connection in a future release.
