Candlelit Factory is an area accessible from a staircase in Blue Sanctuary.

Features

Candlelit Factory comprises a dimly-lit cave-like area, dark, shadowy figures, and a few candlesticks along the north wall. Candlesticks along the walls can be lit temporarily in order to increase the area's brightness, but they will go out shortly after they are lit.

There are shadowy chasers that will send you to a small, dark room and unequip masks. The chasers can be slowed down by interacting with the candles along the upper wall and by equipping the Lantern effect. Using both of these methods allows for easier navigation.

The small room they send you to contains a door with a shaking traffic cone in front that automatically moves out of the way or disappears. It also has a candle in an alcove; if the room is dark, interact with it to make a striped blue party hat appear. Interacting with the party hat can take you to different states of the Cloud Tops. If the room was initially dark, interacting with it will send you to the Night version. If the room was initially lit, the party hat will transport you to the Crepuscule version. Leaving through the southern door instead will return you to the main area.

There are two doors that can be entered as you head further east. The first door is blocked by a cone until Wooden Block World has been visited at least once. Entering the door leads to another room with a candle and wooden blocks on the floor. Interacting with the wooden blocks sends you to Wooden Block World. The second door contains the Cloud Tops connection.

If you continue heading east, an exit with barricades in front of it appears. If you navigate around the barricades, the exit leads to a well-lit room. In the room, there are two sleeping figures, being a snowman-like creature with a blue spiral cone atop its head and a red octopus. They both make sound upon interaction. There are also crates, candles, a dresser, a painting that seems to resemble the Twin Mountains, and a line of blood on the wall. A lullaby-like song plays in the background.

If you interact with the blood, the music changes suddenly to ominous ambience music, the sleeping figures' eyes open, and the room goes black, except for small circles of light around the candles. Interacting with the blood again reverts the room back to its previous state.

Interacting with the blood has a 1/16 chance of triggering a small event, in which the candles' lights fade away one after the other, while footsteps, hitting sounds and other noises can be heard. After the whole room goes dark and a sound of a door shutting plays, you can press the interact key to reveal that the room has turned into a complete mess: all of the boxes and chairs are broken, and the snowman is gone with a pool of blood in its place.

A blue door also appears in the back of the room. Entering it leads to a transitional area with ghastly imagery of mangled white figures and blue party hats, much like the snowman. Visiting this section at least once will unlock an octopus that connects this area to Fish Person Shoal, and it will unlock access to Expanded Corridors.

The end of this area is blocked off by a single clover; destroying it with Chainsaw or Lantern will cause the screen to shake and turn red, where the player will wind up in Flamelit Wasteland. Alternatively, floating over the clover with the Fairy or Spacesuit effect allows access to a further section of the area where the red background fades to blue and it begins to rain. Interacting with the red figure at the end of the path brings the player to Fish Person Shoal.

Directions

After unlocking the connection between Wooden Block World and this area:

Trivia

  • The shape of the shadowy chasers resembles the snowman.
  • Since version 0.123c, Urotsuki will no longer be trapped after getting caught and may return from the small room through the southern door.
