Runic Ruins is an area that can be accessed by going left from the train in Mountain Range and interacting with a strange Teleport Rune.
Features
Runic Ruins is an area made of floating cube structures, some of which move when stepped on in order to bring the player to other areas.
The cubes in the main area will emanate a stronger blue light than usual in response to the Fairy effect's action. The Teru Teru Bōzu effect can be used once to cause rain to fall for a moment, then fade away (even if snow would normally be summoned). Using it after summoning rain will cause Urotsuki to make a refusal noise.
Upon arriving from Mountain Range, an unusual cubic vending machine is nearby, which has a varying cost of use, as well as a ledge that can be used to sit. Continuing to the right leads to the first floating cube. After crossing the gap, there are three options to explore. Going down, there is a block that descends the player to a small section with another cubic vending machine and a construction sign. Going up and behind a block progresses the player further. Going more to the right and behind some blocks leads to a separate area, the Ice Path Puzzle.
Further in the area are more passages and shifting blocks, ending with a connection to Moonlight Lantern Forest.
After obtaining this area's Menu Theme and satisfying unknown conditions, the main area will change in appearance: it will snow; the blocks will have a stronger glow and some will be frozen; the music will be a slightly sped-up version of the track heard in the icy area, giving it a more lively atmosphere. Attempting to stop the snow with the Teru Teru Bōzu effect will only cause a question mark to appear over Urotsuki's head.
Ice Path Puzzle
The Ice Path Puzzle is a snowy area that functions very similarly to the slippery ground in Toy World, where once stepping on the ice, the player will move in that direction without the ability to control themselves until colliding with an object or wall, or stepping on a normal block. Using the Teru Teru Bōzu effect will cause a question mark to appear over Urotsuki's head and the snow will continue to fall.
Further north, the area ends with a broken rectangular object that unlocks Menu Theme #66 upon interaction. The only way leave is to go back the same way, although the exit path will vary slightly compared to the initial path due to how it's designed. Alternatively, one can simply fly over the puzzle with the Fairy or Spacesuit effect.
