Overview
Seccom Masada-sensei is a monochromatic humanoid character. They appear to wear a solid black suit or jumpsuit, alongside having black, medium-length hair and a pale face with strabismic, gray eyes. When interacted with, he makes a trilling, robotic noise, which is also used for one of the Neon Creatures.

Appearance
Masada is a seemingly male NPC who appears to be wearing a black suit or jumpsuit. He has pale skin and medium-length black hair, and his eyes point in two different directions (from a front view, his left eye is pointing up, and his right eye is pointing down.)
He is found in the Spaceship, of which he appears to be the pilot. He is initially facing a large organ at the front of the ship, though he will slowly turn to look in all four directions randomly. If the Spaceship Crash event is activated, he will be frantically looking in all four directions, as if he is panicking, and will make a higher-pitched noise when interacted with. When the ship finally crashes on Mars, he will instead make a lower-pitched noise when interacted with, possibly signifying that he is upset by the ordeal.

Description
If the Knife effect is equipped near him, he will slowly back away continuously.
The Yume Nikki thread on 2ch gave him the name, "<span style="color:red"><u>Se</u>ntimental</span> <span style="color:blue"><u>Komu</u>ro</span> <span style="color:green"><u>Ma</u>ikeru</span> (Michael) <span style="color:orange"><u>Sa</u>kamoto</span> <span style="color:purple"><u>Da</u>da</span>-sensei" or "<span style="color:red">Se</span><span style="color:blue">komu</span> <span style="color:green">Ma</span><span style="color:orange">sa</span><span style="color:purple">da</span>-sensei" (<span style="color:red">セ</span><span style="color:blue">コム</span><span style="color:green">マ</span><span style="color:orange">サ</span><span style="color:purple">ダ</span>先生) for short, as a combination of <span style="color:red">"Sentimental,"</span> <span style="color:blue">Komuro Tetsuya</span>, <span style="color:green">Michael Jackson</span>, <span style="color:orange">Sakamoto Ryuuichi</span>, and <span style="color:purple">Dada</span>. ===In the manga===

Seccom-Masada sensei is one of the main characters of the Yume Nikki manga. He is first seen after Madotsuki stabs her pen through her dream diary, which causes ink to flow out onto the desk and onto the floor, forming a pitch-black puddle that Masada emerges from. In order to enter the dream world, Masada must also sleep in a bed just like Madotsuki. It is also revealed that, in the dream world, Masada is a sort of puppetmaster that hides the world's effects, helping the watchful Mars-san who serves as his boss.

After being alerted of Madotsuki's increasingly violent tendencies, Masada goes to the Nexus and finds it in ruin. He summons his organ which he plays to summon a Paracas figure, which points him the way to Madotsuki. He eventually confronts her on Witch's Island and is nearly stabbed, though he isolated Madotsuki by cutting the island's dock in two with his own knife. However, he is suddenly stabbed by an umbrella, which is revealed to be the doing of Poniko (as Uboa).

He is found in a monochromatic spaceship, apparently the pilot. He stands next to a piano. The player is able to "speak" to him, yielding a beeping noise that some Mario players may find familiar. Interacting with him during the Mars event (as the ship is crashing) will show that the noise is higher-pitched (he may be panicking here, so that's self-explanatory), and when the ship lands on Mars, the noise is lower-pitched (possibly showing a bitter atmosphere, or Masada may be dying).
During the story's climax, Poniko beheads Masada to limit his control and takes him to Mars-san. Poniko is tasked by Mars-san to stop Madotsuki's violent rampage, with Masada's head simply being turned into a window design on Poniko's shirt so that she can carry the effects, similar to the design Madotsuki has. Upon finding Madotsuki in her bed, Masada urges Poniko to kill her, though Poniko instead attacks the dream diary with the Knife effect in order to free herself and Madotsuki from the dream world. This upsets Masada, who realizes the dream world will begin to collapse as a large creature made of Madotsuki's bad memories forms in the Nexus. Poniko is consumed by the monster, leaving Masada's head and the effects in Madotsuki's Room. Masada realizes he can use the dropped effects, flopping his disembodied head onto the Stoplight effect to regain his legs and kick the effects into the monster's mouth. This causes Madotsuki's memories to flood back, causing the monster to explode as the effects are dropped into the Nexus and Masada tumbles back into Madotsuki's room. Madotsuki awakens, frightened by seeing Masada's head in her room. Masada reassures her that she is still dreaming and tells her to go onto the room's veranda so that she can "wake up for real".

Masada is one of only two characters who walk backwards in the game (the other one being Dave Spector), although the only way to see him walk this way is by activating the Knife effect. He glides forwards when the Cat effect is used.

***Additionally, "Seccom" results from an English-language simplification of "Sekomu."
*The honorific suffix -sensei attached to his name is to imply that he is an authority figure, as many fans imagine him as a music teacher, due to the fact that Madotsuki is allowed to play the organ in his Spaceship as well.
*Masada is one of only two characters who can walk backward in the game (the other one being Dave Spector), doing so when the Knife effect is equipped; just like Dave Spector, Masada's left-facing and right-facing sprites are swapped in his sprite set, giving the impression the sprite is looking left while the character is technically facing right. This is partly where the "Michael Jackson" part of the character's name comes from, as Masada's backwards walking resembles Jackson's "moonwalk" dance move. The other part comes from Masada's physical resemblance to Jackson, whose skin turned pale from vitiligo by the 1990s.

Piano Teacher
Merchandise
Seccom Masada's usual interpretation is that he is Madotsuki's (possibly former) piano teacher. It has also been interpreted that Masada might have been a drug user, and the crashing of his UFO was meant to represent his 'crash' (Overdose, possibly his death as well).

There has been speculation that Madotsuki had lived and slept in Masada's flat outside the dream world (represented as an UFO in her dream) for some period of time, this could suggest that Masada is an adult that she trusted before she became a shut in for some reason. Their relationship seems to be platonic, it could be that Madotsuki had a brief feelings for Masada before, but didn't know her feelings towards him (in which he speaks an alien language). However, the siren could represent police sirens on their way to arrest Masada as the authority suspect that he is having a nonconsent relationship with Madotsuki due to her being a young teenager.

Some fans also speculate that Masada's eyes are the way they are due to him having Hypertropia, and Madotsuki may have it too since her eyes are always closed. Which increases the theory of their relationship.

Also, the UFO where Masada lives in is simplistic and spartan, with only the big piano looking control and a table with two chairs only, could suggest that Masada is a struggling pianist who earns side income from private piano lessons.

Death
Many fans speculate Masada was a drug user, and may have died from a "crash", or overdose. This is represented when the alien ship crashes on the alien planet.

Another rumor is that he may have died in a train accident. This is shown when going down into underground Mars; the flights of stairs there are similar to those of a subway station. It is also underground, like many subway stations. At the bottom is a large pile of what seems to be train wreckage, with a figure (Mars-san) crying next to it. Mars-san could represent the people who mourned over Masada's death, and the wreckage itself could point to death by a train wreck. The fact that sad music plays during it only boosts this. Also interacting with Mars-san results in a small 3 note piano song playing. This could be one of the mourners telling what happened, a story about Masada, or just mourning.

Madotsuki awakens, frightened by seeing Masada's head in her room. Masada reassures her that she is still dreaming and tells her to go onto the room's veranda so that she can "wake up for real".
