The Playground is one of the four main areas accessible from the Nexus and can be entered through the red door.

Map of Playground

Features

The Playground is made up of several dark land masses separated by gaps. The background consists of a sunset sky, with a cityscape barely visible in the distance. The foreground consists of black silhouettes of jagged ground, a door, abstract shapes, a building, and playground equipment such as a slide and a damaged swing set. The main area is a straightforward path with a gap in the ground that prevents the area from fully looping.

Upon entering from the Nexus, Aby the Phantom can be seen sitting on a cliffside to the east. However, if Fluorette walks to the west to loop around to the cliffside, the phantom will have disappeared.

Instead, the player must interact with the seat on the swing set. Note that Fluorette must be front-facing for the interaction to work. This will cause the seat to swing, making a loud creaking noise accompanied by a resounding laughter. Returning to the cliffside will make Aby visible once again, and interacting with her now teaches Fluorette the Phantom prayer.

A black doorway to the left of the swing set leads to the Black Caves, and the hut all the way to the left leads to the Underwater Ship.

In the middle of the area, structures with a checked pattern connect to a floating island right above the main area. This floating area is only accessible through a connection in the Symbols Maze. Smaller floating islands with curly vine-like structures also accompany the large island.

The floating island accessed through the Symbols Maze does not currently have any notable elements other than a broken down Game Boy, which does nothing but play a noise upon interacting with it.

Trivia

  • The silhouette-like area and the phantom character/prayer bear resemblance to the video game Limbo from 2010. The first release of Answered Prayers was in 2010 as well.
  • Some early concept art of the game showcases an area similar to the Playground, albeit with a light-purple sky instead of a sunset.
  • Because of the presence of the broken Game Boy, it's possible this area will be updated to lead to Game Boy World, or an area related to it.
