Somber Establishment is an area accessible from Planter Passage.

Features

This mysterious, rainy seaside area consists of teal buildings with gray doors, stone roads and walls, white streetlamps, scattered boxes, various pots and plants, small tables with blue or red striped umbrellas, and other odd objects.

Entering from Planter Passage will place Urotsuki by the shoreline, with white pots and wooden boxes surrounding her. Heading north, she can find a wooden sign that points out a hidden path behind a building. Equipping the Glasses effect here will reveal an apparition of a spinning snowman on a balcony.

Further along the hidden path, there is a motionless Fish Person facing a wall. If they are somehow interacted with, they will not make a sound. There is also a cone blocking a walled courtyard containing a red octopus, a bicycle, a large planter, and other objects. The octopus will also not make a sound. The cone may disappear if Seishonen's painting shows the highest range of Variable #44. At the end of the walkway, there is a door with a streak of blood above it and figures in the windows beside it. Using the door will place Urotsuki in a dark void with a large yellow polygon above her. She will refuse to go any further, and turning forward will play a static noise before returning her to the main area.

Back at the sign, heading north will lead past a group of cones blocking the snowman-like figure, who is lying face down on the ground. Also blocking the way to them are circular "X" signs and a wall with a few purple tiles.

Carrying on, the street will eventually fork. East of the forked street, the area opens up to many branching paths with doors to different interior sections.

West of the forked street is a blue vending machine and a door leading to an interior section formed of teal cubes with narrow paths to other doors. In this section, the music will change, and the background will become dark and grainy. The door directly to the right leads Urotsuki to a few dead ends and a building blocked by a construction sign. Instead, take the door furthest to the right and follow the southern path to find another vending machine. Continue north to find a door behind a broken wall. East from here, the street loops back to the original vending machine. Instead, enter the door by the broken wall, take the leftmost door, follow the street east, turn south, and continue east to find a red Construction Sign, indicating an available connection.

The paths are interconnected, resulting in many ways to reach the Convenience Store. One way involves going northeast at the forked street and using the door where the short path ends. Once inside, use the door to the left to arrive at an outdoor section with two accessible doors. Behind the buildings on the right is an object that makes a Polygon effect noise and leads to Ruby Forest if it has been unlocked from the other side. Use the middle door, which is encircled by the street, and then the door to the right to arrive at a purple creature with a closed eye. It will make a sound upon interaction.

From the purple creature, follow the street east and take the first southern path to find the shoreline, some buildings with figures in the windows, and the door to the final interior section, which is filled with cubes. At the end is a cone and a door to a transitional walkway that resembles the Blue Sanctuary. Surrounding the grassy blue path is water dotted with small islands featuring flowers, blue trees, and a purple tile in one corner.

On the other side of the path is an outdoor section containing a cat-like monitor, also seen in Expanded Corridors. North of here is a door that can be unlocked by visiting the storefront, and it will lead back to the Planter Passage connection. Walking up the street will lead to the Convenience Store.

To reach the Stone Hand Flatland connection, head east at the forked street and follow the path all the way down to find a door to an interior section. After exiting from the third door (from left to right), use the door at the bottom to arrive at an outdoor section by the shore with a pair of structures connecting to Stone Hand Flatland. Near here is another sign pointing out an available connection.

To reach the Convenience Store from Stone Hand Flatland, go inside and use the fourth door (from left to right), then the door to the left, then the rightmost door to find the aforementioned purple creature and the door to the blue path in the southwest.

Instead, head all the way east past the purple creature to find two paths, both ending at a building with an available connection. Next to the building is a unique sign and a table with a red-striped umbrella. The top path goes by a door and straight to it, and the bottom path features an "X" sign that slowly turns from side to side and an exceptionally large building that covers the screen.

Convenience Store

After going up the street, Urotsuki will encounter a view of the cloudy, moonlit sky, with the previous area and a towering blue cone seen in the distance. Walking up to the fence will bring her back to the street. In front of the sepia-toned building is a parking zone, with cones blocking off the doors. Visiting this storefront will unlock access to it in Sepia Clouds World, and if Sepia Clouds World has been visited at least once, the cones will disappear.

Stepping through the glass doors will reveal a modest interior with a friendly Shadow Lady standing behind the counter. The doors on the other side will lead to Sepia Clouds World.

The door at the back will lead to a narrow room with a doorway to Submerged Signs World and a locked door. After visiting the storefront at least once, this door can be unlocked by entering from Teru Teru Bozu Pond. Unlocking the door does not require visiting Sepia Clouds World.

Repeatedly exiting to the storefront has a chance to cause the Crimson Night, with a small object on the ground that teleports Urotsuki to Ruby Forest.

Trivia

  • Trying to return from the original Ruby Forest warp causes odd interactions, such as the music persisting, the red tint staying over the regular sky, the street being inaccessible, and the store sometimes being blocked off by cones.
    • Also, entering from the unlockable Ruby Forest warp will make it so the music does not change when going through the interior maze.
