The Twisted Thickets is an area accessed south of the Decrepit Village's outskirts.

Map of the Twisted Thickets.

Features

The Twisted Thickets are a vast maze of thick, overhanging trees and puddles of water scattered about, with occasional signs of human life here and there, including an unlit lantern and stone pathways leading to nowhere. The area is swathed in fog, but the Lantern effect will help to see through the fog more clearly. Numerous large beasts can be found in the area, including a wolf, a long creature with dark hair, and a mole-like creature with bloodied scythes for hands. Some of these creatures will react to effects (for example, the wolf will wag its tail if you howl with the Wolf effect). Deep within the forest, one can find a fairy ring of small mushrooms which turn pink if the Fairy effect is equipped, and standing in the center then using said effect will take you to the Opal Archives. Though, beware that this is a one-way path.

There is also another path hidden within the forest's depths, which ends in a tent. Entering it, you can find a lantern and a sleeping bag. By using the Lantern effect to light up the lantern, there is a chance that the area will turn blue when using the sleeping bag. Exiting the area while blue takes you to The Peak.

The Peak

This area is a calmer section of the forest, almost straightforward in terms of its structure. Here, the area is no longer foggy and the waters now reflect the night's sky, as a gentle rain has now formed. The Teru Teru Bōzu effect cannot be used during this event. Making your way to the northern exit, any effect that is equipped will be unequipped on the way to the peak, where you can take a view of a mountainous horizon under a full moon; in previous versions this would wake Urotsuki up, but since version 0.122g patch 5 this will take you to the bedroom from Grandma's House in Decrepit Village. Completing this event causes a rune to appear in said area (as a permanent unlock), which leads to a subarea there.
