From the Decrepit Village, Urotsuki will arrive on a mossy brick road leading to the mansion. As it is raining here, the thick fog from the prior area will have eased.
From the north path in Decrepit Village, the player is lead through a stony brick path with moss, outside of which is peppered with unremarkable vegetation and puddles. Here, it will be raining, and the thick fog from the prior area will have vanished unless the player decides to leave.

Upon arriving at the Estate's front yard past the open fence, you'll be met with its exterior, built from dark brick and lined with many windows. Much of the front is covered in ivy and vines. Standing guard above two windows are two stone gargoyles fashioned in the likeness of the Shadow Bird chasers. Upon using an effect that creates a loud noise, such as the Telephone or Drum, the gargoyles will stare at Urotsuki. Each time a noisy effect is used, there is a small chance that they may become animate and jump off the sides of the walls and begin to chase the player, banishing Urotsuki to the Estate's attic if she is caught, where she may only pound on the door to no avail.

After ascending the stairs, the player may enter through the doors to the interior. During this transition, the gargoyles will stare at Urotsuki.

Each time a noisy effect is used, there is a small chance they will jump down and chase Urotsuki, banishing her to the Attic of the estate if she is caught.

Interior
The front doors lead to the Interior of the mansion. The gargoyles will stare at Urotsuki as she enters.
After entering through the creaky front doors, the player is lead to a main hall within, where you may access the east wing, the west wing, or the southern area. Much of the decor and furnishing inside are heavily inspired by Victorian aesthetics with a very distinct Gothic flair. The halls here have many wall sconces, windows, and red curtains framing the walls, and every now in then you may see columns lining the halls. A few Shadow Ladies can be seen wandering around here; chainsawing any of the estate's residents will turn them insane and lock the you in the Attic if they catch you, much like the gargoyles from the exterior.  In the far east, you can find a sofa with a shadow lady sitting upon it. If you sit with her, she will meet eyes with Urotsuki if you decide to look at her.

The carpeted doorways in the east wing only leads to the Study, one of the largest rooms available in the estate. Here, you can see many of the residents sitting at tables, reading or not doing much at all. The Study itself is quite spacious and has a fireplace to sit and relax at, where a portrait of a Shadow Lady is hanging above. Many tall bookshelves and potted plants can also be found, here.

This area begins with a large Victorian-Gothic foyer lit with sconces. Several Shadow Ladies can be seen walking around. Chainsawing any of the estate's residents will turn them insane. They will then send Urotsuki to the Attic if caught, much like the gargoyles outside.

The west wing has two doorways leading to a tiled kitchen area and a dining room south from it. The kitchen itself has striped wallpaper different from the rest of the Estate, and has what one may expect from a kitchen including a stovetop, ornate cupboards and cabinets, and a sink that the player can interact with. The dining room in the south has many guests quietly sitting at the table with silverware and napkins, although the player cannot join them. The two spare dining chairs in the corner, however, can be sat on.
Several of the rooms in the estate have lit fire places. Using the Teru Teru Bōzu effect anywhere in this area will extinguish them all.

Just south of the initial entrance are two rooms that can be entered. The east set of doors lead to a fainting room, a private room from Victorian homes that often contained fainting couches for women to lay on. Upon entering, there is a small chance you may find a Shadow Lady resting on the fainting couch with a lit fireplace, who will glare at you if you brandish the Chainsaw; despite this, however, it is impossible to attack her. The west set of doors lead to a brief hallway with boxes and a bookshelf, where you may hear soft piano music playing. As you draw closer to the proceeding doorway, the music will grow louder. In the proceeding room, you can sit on the fainting couch near the exit, or interact with the middle barrier, which causes the camera to pan over to the Shadow Lady until the player moves.  Using the Chainsaw or Crossing effects will cause the piano-playing Shadow Lady to stop, while the former will make her angry until it is unequipped. Equipping the Child, Fairy, or Dice effects will allow you to bypass the barriers. You can chainsaw the Shadow Lady, but doing so will once more trap you in the attic.
Western side
To the west of the entrance is a sofa with a Shadow Lady on it. If Urotsuki sits on the couch and looks to the left, she will meet eyes with her.

South of the fainting room and the piano room are four bedrooms that can be entered, some of which are occupied. The level of decor in these bedrooms vary, and all of them have closets that can be opened. The second bedroom from the left has a black and white cat, named Tiger, sitting on the bed, who does not react to any effect other than Crossing, and mewls when interacted with. The third bedroom's closet contains a clone of Urotsuki curled up inside, much like the Closet Madotsuki from Yume Nikki.
The doors on the westernmost wall lead to the spacious Study. Here Shadow Ladies sit reading books at long tables. There are tall bookshelves and potted plants throughout, as well as a small sitting area with a lit fireplace.

The long, south hall leads the player into the heavily-carpeted Living room where the player may sit on the couch in front of a cozy fireplace alongside bookshelves and chairs, in the company of several Shadow Ladies, and send the player to a unique trap location if chainsawed. A closet is located on the right alcove, which leads the player into the Mannequin Maze.
The western wing also has a set of double doors leading to the Fainting Room. There is a small chance upon entering that a Shadow Lady will be resting on the couch and the fireplace lit. She will glare at you if you brandish the Chainsaw, but it is impossible to attack her.

Mannequin Maze
South of the Fainting Room are two bedrooms. The one on the right has a cat named Tiger sitting on the bed who mewls when interacted with. Tiger does not react to any effects other than Crossing and Chainsaw. Attempting to chainsaw the cat will cause it to let out an angry meow, attracting the ire of a crazy Shadow Lady who will attack Urotsuki when she leaves the bedroom and wake her up.

This place is a dark, winding labyrinth of wooden mannequins dressed in the same black hats and dresses donned by a typical Shadow Lady, set upon a series of brown, isometric paths. This area has a few interest points, including a mannequin near the end of the first segment who stares at the player, a curtained area with a ghostly shadow lady with her back turned alongside another mannequin, windows pasted erratically on one of the pathways, and a shadow lady on an isolated platform who refuses to look at the player.

At the very end of the maze, you can find a construction sign placed next to another closet door that leads the player to another area (name TBA).
If Variable #44 is greater than or equal to 80, a second cat named Gami will be laying on the bed next to Tiger. Gami reacts to the Cake effect upon interaction, purring softly. The player can interact with the nearby closet to be transformed into a Shadow Lady version of herself, unlocking it for purchase in the Mask Shop.

The Shadow Lady Estate is a mansion accessed through the northern path in Decrepit Village.

Features

Exterior

From the Decrepit Village, Urotsuki will arrive on a mossy brick road leading to the mansion. As it is raining here, the thick fog from the prior area will have eased.

Upon arriving at the Estate's front yard past the open fence, you'll be met with its exterior, built from dark brick and lined with many windows. Much of the front is covered in ivy and vines.

Standing guard above two of the windows are two gargoyles built in the likeness of the Shadow Bird chasers. Using effects that create loud noise, such as the Telephone or Drum effects, will cause them to stare at Urotsuki. Each time a noisy effect is used, there is a small chance they will jump down and chase Urotsuki, banishing her to the Attic of the estate if she is caught.

The front doors lead to the Interior of the mansion. The gargoyles will stare at Urotsuki as she enters.

Interior

Map of Shadow Lady Estate's Interiors

This area begins with a large Victorian-Gothic foyer lit with sconces. Several Shadow Ladies can be seen walking around. Chainsawing any of the estate's residents will turn them insane. They will then send Urotsuki to the Attic if caught, much like the gargoyles outside.

Several of the rooms in the estate have lit fire places. Using the Teru Teru Bōzu effect anywhere in this area will extinguish them all.

Western side

To the west of the entrance is a sofa with a Shadow Lady on it. If Urotsuki sits on the couch and looks to the left, she will meet eyes with her.

The doors on the westernmost wall lead to the spacious Study. Here Shadow Ladies sit reading books at long tables. There are tall bookshelves and potted plants throughout, as well as a small sitting area with a lit fireplace.

The western wing also has a set of double doors leading to the Fainting Room. There is a small chance upon entering that a Shadow Lady will be resting on the couch and the fireplace lit. She will glare at you if you brandish the Chainsaw, but it is impossible to attack her.

Eastern wing

The doors on the eastern wall (to the player's right) lead to the Kitchen and Dining Room. The Kitchen has ornate wallpaper and cabinetry, as well as a sink that can be interacted with. To the south is a Dining Room. Here many guests sit quietly at a large dining table, but Urotsuki cannot join them, as only the chairs in the corner are interactable.

Also in the eastern wing is a set of double doors that leads to a sparsely furnished hallway with piano music playing. Continuing further left leads to the Piano Room, where the music is more audible. Here Urotsuki can sit on the fainting couch or interact with the barrier in the middle of the room, which causes the camera to pan over to a Shadow Lady playing the piano. Equipping the Chainsaw effect or using the Crossing effect will cause the piano-playing Shadow Lady to stop. The Chainsaw will make her angry until it is unequipped. With the Child, Fairy, Grave (while active), or Dice effect, you can go underneath the barriers to the left side of the room.

Below the set of double doors leading to the Piano Room are two bedrooms. The one on the left has a sleeping clone of Urotsuki curled up inside the closet, much like the Closet Madotsuki from Yume Nikki.

Southern wing

Map of the Mannequin Maze.

The southernmost set of double doors leads to a wide Living Room. The Shadow Ladies here send her to a unique trap location if chainsawed. Interacting with the closet on the top-right of this room leads to the Mannequin Maze.

The Mannequin Maze.

The Mannequin Maze is a dark isometric area. Here Urotsuki must navigate around many wooden mannequins dressed as Shadow Ladies.

Points of interest along the path include a mannequin near the end of the first segment who stares at Urotsuki, a ghostly shadow lady with her back turned, a series of erratically placed windows, and a shadow lady on an isolated platform who refuses to look at Urotsuki.

At the very end of the maze is a construction sign next to an open closet. This closet leads to a Carpeted Room with blue- and purple-striped wallpaper, a flickering television, and giant plush toys. Several effects, when equipped, will make both dolls cover their eyes, namely Stretch, Grave, Chainsaw, and Marginal. The doorway at the north leads to a room with two faceless stuffed dinosaurs, one of which Urotsuki can sit on unless she is using the Bike. The dinosaur in the foreground appears to be clipping through the wall, though this is intentional, and cannot be sat on.

The final corridor leads to a flickering blue-screened television that creates a static noise that grows progressively louder as Urotsuki draws closer to it. Upon interaction, the screen goes black for some time as the sound of putting a tape into a VHS player is heard. Urotsuki reappears in a small room that has an overlay resembling a CRT TV screen and an exit blocked by a construction sign. Interacting with the television here will again make the screen go black, play the sound of a VHS tape being ejected, and transport you back the previous room.

Second Floor

Following up the stairs from the southern wing will lead Urotsuki to the second floor of the area. While significantly smaller than the first floor, there are a few points of interest.

Directly after entering, Urotsuki must ascend a staircase, leading to a more empty area with a large chandelier, vaguely resembling the being from Marijuana Goddess World. On the western side of the room, there is a construction sign, indicating that there may be more added to the area in a future update.

in the northern part of the room, there is a door leading to a room with a corpse in front of an unfinished painting. There is a large window in this room, showing a view of the night sky.

Interacting with the corpse grants Menu Theme #59.

Trivia

 • The calico cat in one of the bedrooms, Tiger, was added by the request of a player whose cat had passed away prior to this area's implementation.
 • Version 0.123b patch 4 fixed a bug that enabled getting Menu Theme #59 in an unintended way, but this made it necessary for those who already got the theme to get it again.
