Map of the Apartments

The Apartments is an area accessible from White Fern World.

Features

The exterior to the three different apartment buildings is grey with two floors and a red railing on the second floor. Each room has a door with a window to its right which may or may not show light inside. The ground outside is a deep shade of blue, illuminated by many strangely shaped street-lamps that surround the area. There is also a Vending Machine in this area.

The entrance from White Fern World is lined with street-lamps, and Hiboushi can be found there. Interacting with her results in a full-screen event with her face flashing on-screen for a few seconds before she disappears, much like Monoe in Yume Nikki. Eventually you will reach a small apartment block with one door leading to the X-Y room of Apartment 1-3.

The apartments have lightly colored floorboards, patterned wallpaper, and a sliding door leading out to a balcony. The balconies all overlook the same scene, and most have a cactus on the right-hand side.

These are the contents of each room, from left to right:

Main Building

  • Apartment 1-2 - There are three large blocks in different colors and a set of buttons. Pressing the button corresponding with each block will cause that block to deteriorate. Press the buttons in blue-red-yellow order several times to destroy the blocks completely. Doing so will cause colorful new NPCs and pathway up to the Sky Kingdom to appear on the balcony. Leaving the room will reset the blocks.
  • Apartment 1-3 - This apartment comprises two rooms. The room accessible from the main apartment complex is smaller and has an NPC wearing a red hat. If you interact with him and go through the door at the top, it will take you to the second room. The second room has an X-Y graph on the floor and two creatures with zeroes and infinity signs around them. Interacting with the X-Y creatures unlocks Wallpaper #117. The creatures also flinch when the Telephone effect is used, and freak out if the zeroes and infinity signs around them are chainsawed. The bottom exit leads to a small apartment block outside, which is where you first arrive if you reach the apartments from White Fern World.
  • Apartment 2-1 - This room contains a red ball surrounded by three cushions. Chainsawing the ball once cracks it open. Doing so a second time causes a blue creature to pop out, which wiggles when you interact with it. Chainsawing a third time will kill it. By the door to the balcony is a purple blob in a garbage can. If you chainsaw it, its face will morph into an angry looking eyeball. You can chainsaw it again to kill it.
  • Apartment 2-2 - This is where you start if you reach the Apartments using the book in the Library. The creature in that book lives here, and interacting with it triggers the White Drooling Creature Event. The creature will then run around the room, changing its path if you block it. If the Spacesuit effect has been obtained, there will also be a strange deformed man in the room. If the event here has been triggered, he will stop moving and turn away, and one of the objects in his hands will be blacked out. The event can be ended by exiting through the front door.
  • Apartment 2-3 - This room is home to Megane and his pet rabbit. If you use the Glasses effect here, he will turn invisible except for his glasses.

The path north leads to a second apartment building with only one room on each floor, while the path south of the main building leads to the Zebra Crosswalk. If the UFO is present at the crossing, its sound will be heard outside the main building.

Smaller Building

This building can be reached using the path northwest of the main building.

  • Apartment 2-1 - This room has a hole in the floor. Interacting with the hole takes you down a flight of stairs into a destitute building, where you can either continue moving downstairs or go left or right.
    • Going left seems to loop endlessly. Going right leads to a wispy black and white creature, which won't let you progress until you interact with it. After interacting with it and continuing on to the next screen, you can proceed through a set of grey doors, which will lock behind you, to a hallway with another dual set of stairs.
      • Going upstairs leads to the home of Bane Jack, who will give you the Spring effect when you interact with him. Leaving this room through the door at the bottom will take you to Urotsuki's Dream Apartments.
      • Going downstairs leads to the School.
    • B1 - This floor has another set of stairs going downwards and miniature doorway on the other end of the hallway. If you use the Child or Fairy effect, going through the small door will take you outside to a sewer-like waterway. Interacting with the telephone poles in this area will make the camera pan upwards, revealing eyes above the wall. If you go under the bridge into the sewer, you will find two pipes on the wall. The first one leads to a ladder that you can climb to get to Monochrome GB World. The second and smaller one is covered by a grate that can be broken with the Chainsaw effect, but you can only enter it with the Child effect (Urotsuki will refuse to use the Fairy effect here). This leads to another corridor and eventually outside, to a narrow peninsula in Dream Park. The peninsula appears to reach a dead end at the edge of the water, but you can use the Penguin effect to enter the water and continue.
    • B2 - The final stairs going down lead to the Underground Garage.

Zebra Crosswalk

A crosswalk south of the main building. Travelling from Elvis Masada's Place or Spelling Room will lead here. The UFO in Broken Faces Area leads to a room with a one-way path leading here, too. Going left at the crossing will take you to the Forlorn Beach House, while the main building is to the right.

Travelling here via the UFO will make a UFO be present at the crossing. This UFO might also be present when arriving from Elvis Masada's Place (Chance🍀 25% chance) or Spelling Room (Chance🍀1 in 6 chance, ~17%). Once the UFO is present, it will not leave, even when leaving the crossing, until travelling here from Elvis Masada's Place or Spelling Room again, which will do a new random chance check.

When the UFO is present, it will be floating in the background and making a pulsing sound. The path that leads to the Apartments will not lead to the main building, instead leading to the room with the UFO. Its sound can be heard in this room. Interacting with the UFO here can take you to the Fairy Tale Woods, and subsequently Broken Faces Area. It will also grant you wallpaper #60.

Trivia

  • All of the different balconies in this area are technically the exact same place, made to look different through the use of scripting.
  • In previous versions of Yume 2kki, a character named Lamp Post Boy appeared on the lamp post path, who has since been replaced by Hiboushi in 0.103i.
  • The UFO in Zebra Crosswalk was initially conceptualized by みね (Mine), a lesser-known Japanese user who contributed to much of 2kki's older maps with their assets. They also created the parallax for the hilly view from the Apartment balcony.
  • Megane and his rabbit used to be scared if the UFO was outside, and they would run around the room frantically.
