Duality Wilds is an area accessible from the monochrome monster painting in the Atelier, or a house in Monochrome Feudal Japan.

Features

This area is a large desert-like expanse reminiscent of the White Desert from Yume Nikki. Half of the area is white and the other half is black, which is symbolic of its dual nature. Fences divide the area, and the monstrous passageways serve as means to cross over from one half to the other. These passages can only be used with the Fairy, Child, Grave (while active), or Dice effects. Various creatures wander about alongside drooling plant-like entities and thin haniwa statues. Equipping the Haniwa effect will cause the latter to dance.

Wandering both the white and black areas is a lookalike of Monoe. Interacting with her has one of two effects. In the white area, a close-up of her face will appear similar to the original Monoe's. If interacted with in the black area, however, she'll turn the background and herself red and gain an angry expression. Trying to chainsaw her after this will result in her quickly chasing you and forcefully unequipping your effect.

Another point of interest is a slab with a black-shaded Urotsuki in one of the smaller sections. Finally, in the black area, you can find a passage to the Rainbow Crypt.

Rainbow Crypt

The entrance of this area greets you with a rainbow-colored creature who laughs upon interaction. Interacting with the portal takes you to the corridor proper, where the creature may sometimes appear.

Making your way to the end with the teleporters, you will end up in a room with a large panel on top, and seven doors. Using the Rainbow effect will reveal that these doors have the colors of the rainbow, which need to be accessed in order. Entering each door will shuffle the colors, and when solved, a construction sign blocks the center door, indicating that the succeeding area has yet to be created. Chainsawing the sign will cause it to scream inhumanely, and a sign creature will take its place.

Trivia

  • In the white area, there are floor tiles arranged in a way that bears a clear resemblance to Uboa's infamous grin.
