The White Desert (Official Name: モノ, Mono) is an area reachable from Mafurako in the Block World. It is populated by a large number of notable NPCs, including Monoko, Monoe, Takofuusen, and The Thing with the Quivering Jaw. It is such a huge area that it is divided into two sections, White Desert A and White Desert B.

Points of Interest
The White Desert (also known as Black and White World) is a set of deeper dream worlds in Yume Nikki. It is one of the largest areas in the game, only surpassed by Wilderness. It also has the largest variety of characters compared to other dream worlds.
White Desert A
The desert's name is based off of its color - or rather, its lack thereof: Everything in the White Desert is entirely black and white, save for striking bits of red. Various limb-like objects protrude out of the surface, some moving when interacted with. This characteristic shows a similar design with the Eyeball World, in which animated hands and eyes are on the ground.
Features
The White Desert is a large, monochrome desert world consisting of several rooms and areas. Everything within the desert is white (with occasional touches of bright red) and some areas contain a void-like black background or expanse. The music is composed of only two sounds: a shuffling sound and a deep bell noise that play at different intervals.

Many parts of the White Desert invoke the reoccurring theme of body parts, particularly eyes and arms. Some aspects of the landscape appear to be crudely drawn, inspiring theories that the location is based on drawings that Madotsuki could have drawn as a kid. The soundtrack for the White Desert is also the same for each of its areas, only consisting of a shuffling sound and a bell noise that plays irregularly.

Below is a list of worlds that are a part of the White Desert:

White Desert A is accessible from a black gate in Block World or by a one-way tunnel from White Desert B. Two Dave Spectors can also be found wandering around White Desert A, one of which stands near another tunnel and can be stabbed to change the contents of said tunnel depending on which end it is entered from. The left entrance connects to Monoe's Tunnel within her black void, whereas the right tunnel takes Madotsuki to the linear White Desert Path.

Monoko can be found in a tunnel that has a horizontal path go through, using Stoplight effect can make her show another appearance.
White Desert B
White Desert B is accessible from a silent and completely monochrome room in the FC Dungeon. This world is the deepest area in the game, requiring at least seven other worlds to be visited prior to getting to it. There are also no NPCs in this part of the White Desert.

Killing Dave Spector near the circular path of tunnel can access two place from that tunnel: going to the East entrance leads you to a large looping area with Monoe inside; going to the West entrance leads you to a path that has huge body parts and a small house at the end which causes the Flying Heads event.
The initial area is a small lagoon with many features resembling body parts. Two eyes are on the adjacent wall, a hand reaching out from the nearest one over the staircase entrance. The water of the lagoon appears to come from nostril-like holes in the wall. Some drooping protrusions and a melting wall are on the right side of the lagoon. The ear-like doorway on the right leads to a short stairway up to the White Desert B 's main area.

Stabbing the eye box has a one in thirty chance of teleporting you to a small area filled with Eye People; getting back is done the same way. A passage that is a smiling tooth with two grasping hands brings one back to the Block World.
The path after exiting the staircase leads to a one-way connection to White Desert A. Above this connection is an isolated mountain ring and a large group of eye-like tiles. The area is otherwise empty.

Oddly enough, the bell-like noise that plays in the theme of this area will only occur if you are moving.
White Desert Mountain Ring
White Desert B
The Dense Woods manhole leads to Roary Straw which has its appearance changed by how long you have been walking on the infinitely looping road. Climb up to the surface and you will be in a place that is surrounded by mountains with an entrance resembling a man's head. You can enter its right ear.
The White Desert Mountain Ring is an isolated section of White Desert B that is accessed from a manhole in Dense Woods B. The area houses three large, strange creatures.

Entering the ear, you will be in a cave which has a single pathway. In the middle there is a huge monster which is known as the Brain Creature. Pressing and holding the up arrow key will make the camera pan up so you can see its full appearance. If you keep walking along the path you will come out from a Buddha's left ear, and meet a giant monster called The Thing with the Quivering Jaw.
The first part of the Mountain Ring contains Manhole-sama, which changes appearance depending on how many times the Infinite Road in the Dense Woods has been looped through. Climbing the tentacle on the right brings Madotsuki to the center of the mountain ring located within White Desert B. The only thing to do within the ring is continue into the Choshu Head, which houses the Brain Creature and, further, the Thing with the Quivering Jaw.

If you came from the FC Dungeon, you will arrive at the Underground Lagoon which has a moving shadow arm. If you keep going up the stairway, you will be on the outside of the ring of mountains, which has nothing but a floating stair path and a tunnel near the entrance that has a path you can follow. Following the path will send you through a one way teleport to White Desert A's tunnel that is spraying lots of water.

From outside of the mountains, you can see the red tentacle from Roary Straw, but can't see the entrance that looks like a head in the center. The outside of White Desert B is potentially the most difficult location to reach without a walkthrough in this game. This is because you need to go through 2 different mazes: the Teleport Maze and the FC Dungeon.
Uboa's Trap is another isolated section of the White Desert, although it is not associated with White Desert A or B, instead being linked to Poniko's House and the Uboa event. Madotsuki is trapped in this area after interacting with Uboa.

A shot of the White Desert A while Takofuusen flies by.

The White Desert (also known as Black and White World) is a set of deeper dream worlds in Yume Nikki. It is one of the largest areas in the game, only surpassed by Wilderness. It also has the largest variety of characters compared to other dream worlds.

Features

The White Desert is a large, monochrome desert world consisting of several rooms and areas. Everything within the desert is white (with occasional touches of bright red) and some areas contain a void-like black background or expanse. The areas found within the White Desert vary in appearance, though the main areas consist of expansive terrain with cacti and bumpy pathways. Its large size makes it home to many notable characters and events, though no effects can be found here.

Worlds

Below is a list of worlds that are a part of the White Desert:

White Desert A

Full map of White Desert A.

White Desert A is accessible from a black gate in Block World or by a one-way tunnel from White Desert B. It largely consists of groups of cacti and various structures that house the desert's inhabitants. This part of the White Desert also contains most of the world's notable characters and all of its events, being home to the Severed Heads in the Sky, Takofuusen, Monoe, and Monoko.

Near the smiling head serving as the gate to Block World is the Eye Box, which has a chance to teleport Madotsuki to a void filled with Eye People when stabbed. Monoko's Tunnel is found on a continuous looping path near the head.

White Desert B

The White Desert Underground Lagoon, which is the initial area of White Desert B.

White Desert B is accessible from a silent and completely monochrome room in the FC Dungeon. This world is the deepest area in the game, requiring at least seven other worlds to be visited prior to getting to it. There are also no NPCs in this part of the White Desert.

The path after exiting the staircase leads to a one-way connection to White Desert A. Above this connection is an isolated mountain ring and a large group of eye-like tiles. The area is otherwise empty.

White Desert Mountain Ring

Madotsuki near the Brain Creature, who resides in the White Desert Mountain Ring.

The White Desert Mountain Ring is an isolated section of White Desert B that is accessed from a manhole in Dense Woods B. The area houses three large, strange creatures.

Uboa's Trap

Uboa's Trap with a clear view of the Bloody Touching Monster.

Uboa's Trap is another isolated section of the White Desert, although it is not associated with White Desert A or B, instead being linked to Poniko's House and the Uboa event. Madotsuki is trapped in this area after interacting with Uboa.

The area is a small looping sea of white liquid. Uboa is close by making a distorted face. In the distance is a set of five melting mountains being grasped by the Bloody Touching Monster. This area must be escaped by either waking up or using the Medamuade effect.

Trivia

  • Everything in the White Desert internally has the prefix モノ (mono), including the characters, map name, and panorama backgrounds.
  • The name of the music that plays in the area, SYA, could refer to the kanji "者", which can be read as either "sya/shya" or "mono" depending on meaning. When read as "mono", it means "person".
  • The area's aesthetic resembles the drawings found in the Sewers, especially the common body themes.
  • In the CharSet files of the game, the sprites for the monochromatic Madotsuki's Ghost appears within the protagonist assets usually reserved for Madotsuki, leading to speculation that it was planned for Madotsuki's appearance in the White Desert.
    • This theory is partially countered by the inclusion of Mafurako in Madotsuki's sprites as well. In fact, examining the assets reveals KIKIYAMA commonly places similar graphics within one file, such as an unused duplicate of a Dave Spector appearing in the same file as Monoe.
